Any Aussies watch the popular TV program The Project? They are about to do a story about a boy cured of Autism
Please watch and follow on social media to contribute to the conversation and provide our perspectives.
I hope they don't say anything stupid because I really like this show.

When they do the "NTs cured of their NT-ness" I will be all ears.

Sorry, can't cure it. Might be able to help a child learn to adapt as best as they can, which can make a big difference for the child, but the autism will always be part of who they are.

That's what I want to know. How about short people cured of their shortness, and black people cured of their blackness? Oh! Here's a good one. Cockneys cured of their Britishness!

Doesn't NT-ness go hand in hand with perfectionism?

If there was a drug to change the structure of an aspergers brain to make it normal. I would take it no matter the consequences.

There are lots of simple valid treatments for symptoms, but different people fixate on different symptoms or have other conditions.

I, personally, would never take a cure. NEVER. I would much rather be autistic than NT. I am contented with who I am - I could not survive being anything else.

Those are my personal feelings as well.

In all seriousness Michael Jackson supposedly had a condition called vitiligo which essentially is depigmentation of the skin.

Sorry, Earth, but there's a lot of anti-cure folk around here and they love comparing apples with oranges and lemons. It's really no wonder new members tend to not stick around.

Is that really all they did? That's disappointing. I have Celiac Disease, so I'm already gluten-free. While it did help somewhat, it didn't take care of all of my Autistic symptoms. I also don't eat that much dairy to begin with.

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder.

It's for life. Just like homosexuality. Cannot be changed.
