Does anyone find it hard to optimize physical space? For example, everything in my room seems to be difficult to reach, uncomfortable etc. and as much as I try to think of a way to put everything in an optimal combination I often can't find a way to accommodate everything in an ideal manner.

I got married to a bi-polar woman when I was 19. I have learned to avoid chaos at all costs since then. I am a major purger and hang important items on my wall.

If it were my choice, I would have a much cleaner lifestyle, only having the things I absolutely need for everyday life. If I don't ever use it, there's no point in keeping it.
...Actually, that's a good idea. I'll start with the things in my room that're in the way, useless, and cluttering the place up.

In the morning, I will clear the hell out of this place! I can't have a simple life if I don't start forming these habits right now.

Thanks for unintentionally giving me the idea.

My room is organized very well, but only because I teach bass and guitar lessons out of it. When I didn't have people regularly coming in here for lessons, it was very messy with clothes and stuff, but now there's just a clutter of instruments with a clean floor and everything looking tidy. I do have one desk that is covered in books (a LOT of them), though, and the desk next to my synth has a bunch of papers and such on it, mostly music related stuff. My amps take up a decent amount of space, as well.

Central in the room is the music area - where I have two chairs and where I teach lessons. My main bass, main guitar, and synth are all within arms reach from my chair, as well as the controls for the amps I use to teach lessons (one of my bass amps with one of my guitar amps stacked on top of it).

My room is an "organized mess".

I have thoughts of how much nicer everything could be if I ever finished through with my attempts. Some of the clear shoe boxes I got are already overflowing and the next size up is like $10 a box instead of $1. At one point I did have a room completely hardwired for rehearsing and recording, then the band broke up and I lost a few mics, and everything was gravy from there

I don't like reorganizing my apartment. Whenever I do, everything seems wrong for a week or so.
But anyways I tend to organize my apartment to optimize free space, and make it as practical as possible.

Aesthetics comes as third priority.

Most of the time, my apartment is a mess. Clothes anywhere, dismantled electronics, tools, and stuff like that. It takes a lot of effort to clean it just enough before visits from friends or family. And usually postponed until they are almost climbing the stairs :(

Everything is organized around my desk, where I have my computer / server, and do my special interests.

I find it very difficult to discart old and broken items, even if I can't imagine of any future use. Maybe it could be used for parts later...
