So suffice it to say I am very much a certified adult (or is that certifiable... whatever), but I still sleep with a stuffed animal to help me sleep and was wondering if this is normal for people on the spectrum or is it just me?

I still have the blanket I got as a newborn and I still sleep with it. It's the one thing that has been a constant in my life, and it helps me calm down.

Not me.

Probably because I grew up disliking sleep.

Not out of sensory or psychological discomfort.
But because sleep isn't very reliable to me no matter what my state of mind and comfort has.

Yes. My bed and blankets. :D

Though I do have things all around me which make me comfortable, like my trains and things like that. Not in my bed though as it would not be such a good idea.

I do have two or three things near me for comfort. One is a stuffed cat I rescued. One is a cute plastic fish that used to swim but has broken. They are not in my bed though.

I have a pillow that I like but this only happened as an adult. I just got used to it. It can actually be any pillow. As long as I'm cuddling something.

I like to use a black t-shirt as an eye shade. I recently misplaced it, and didn't use a substitute.

I like to sleep with a tickle. It's a silky piece of material that I like to rub and I have had one since I was a very young child.

The Los Angeles Hysterical Society once made a collection of "Cement Cuddlers" - plush toys re-stuffed with concrete. I'm thinking of making one to leave where guests will want to sit. . .

fuzzy blankets, and sometimes my cat or dog will join me. I sometimes hold a stuffed animal for comfort, too. I will be 70 on my next birthday. Do what gives you comfort. No shame.

Yes, I sleep with several weighted blankets.
When I was a teenager I sometimes slept under the weight of the mattress.

Until recently, a plush ankylosaurus. It was also very useful for propping books up while reading in bed. But a few months ago I took it away to repair some of the felt spikes that had got torn over the years, and I've only just found it again.

Also, I'm not sure how to get the dust out of these things...

I sleep with my teddy bear in the bed every night. I even take my teddy bear with me whenever I go away on holiday.

And I sleep with my boyfriend every night! 8O But he doesn't judge me about the teddy bear.

I still have 'Yogi' - a Yogi Bear soft toy that I was given by my Aunt in 1963.

He seemed nearly as tall as me as I pulled off the polythene wrapping.

We shared a bed until into my teens. These days he sits on top of the draws near my bed, almost within arms reach,

We have never been far apart.
