I have a particular fascination for acapella music... specifically, acapella versions of songs that were not originally acapella. There are a large number of college groups that do this very well... Stanford Mixed Company, The Harvard Callbacks, and the USC Sirens are just three off the top of my head.

As you might guess, I have a thing for good voices... Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, and Celine Dion (in small doses).

I also like a lot of "classic" rock... Queen, Rush, Led Zepplin.

For reasons I can't explain I love Concrete Blonde.

Also, there's a special place in my heart for Dar Williams... she hasn't the greatest voice in the world, but she's one of the best songwriters of our race.

Can't possibly list everything I like! Recently I've been listening to The Vines a lot. Also love anything Jack White does. Also Tori Amos, P J Harvey, Kate Bush, Patti Smith, Bjork, Julian Cope, the Beatles, the Stones, the Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Queens Of The Stone Age and millions of other things. And harpsichord music. :D

Folk rock (especially late 70s), Irish (but it has to be GOOD), J-pops, and some late 80s / early 90s musical theatre.

I love Kate Bush in one respect, but I can't listen to most of her music if I'm feeling depressed, because it makes me almost suicidally depressed. :(

Mostly I listen to the 80s chart music I grew up with. Also country.

Some general categories (but there's random stuff as well):

*classical (particularly Bach and Chopin)
*opera
*Oldies
*some jazz (Billie Holiday, etc.)
*Frank Sinatra
*Broadway/musicals
*some alternative

Mostly I'm horrible with band/artist names so I know what I like when I hear it but rarely can I be more specific.

At this moment, I'm listening to Michael Jackson's The Thriller. :D
