We all know everyone with AS sense things differently.
I am guessing taste is no different.

I can't get enough sweets. If I did not have any self control, I would be constantly eating candy, cookies, cakes, etc.

Am I the only one?

Guilty. One of my biggest problems is sensory in nature--I have to have sweet as my last flavor experience or I don't feel satiated. So whatever I eat, I need something sweet afterwards or I have terrible cravings. I try to not eat sweets, but I end up eating something else instead, then wind up eating sweets anyway and stop. So I get more calories than I would have if I had just eaten a sweet! It's terrible. Luckily, I am still within normal BMI, but I can see how easily my weight could balloon with this pattern. My solution is to have a few bites (only!) of a sweet after everything I eat.

Edited to add: Despite this, I don't think it is an AS trait!

Lol by this logic, all women and children are autistic.

Seriously though, I think the sugar loaded diet, exaggerates attention issues, especially for those Auties who's kitchens are too dirty to cook.

I like sweets too, but I don't think that it has anything to do with autism.

I don't like sweets. I prefer bitters like unsweetened chocolate and 'real' bitter licorice from anything in that family. Otherwise, I am more of a 'whole grains' person. I also have special like for black pepper and curry.

I love sweets I need to make myself have the willpower to not steal any at work. Chocolate is my favorite. They need to change the damn code on the door. That will make me stop. I also prefer sweets over good foods and I tend to not eat if there are no sweets and I don't buy any or else I be eating only that. So I end up eating other things like pasta or fruit or college cheese or cereal when I am starving. If I am not hungry, I won't want any.

I think this is a human trait.

I...want....candy..and Twinkies....NOW!! !!

Liking sweets is a human trait, not just an autistic trait.

No it's not I know plenty of people who have a habit of eating sweets and can't get enough of them now can we just pick out traits that ARE related to AS instead of thinking up any random thing what even normal people like/do?

Is using browsing the internet an Aspie trait? It seems every Aspie on here browses the internet.

I don't like sweets. I like many sweet foods, but I don't like sweets.

I am the same way. I eat non-sweetened apple sauce after every meal and a Trader Joes fruit leather. No processed sugar in either.

Obviously not an aspie trait.

I actively dislike most kinds of candy.

The kinds I like - I get satiated with quite rapidly.

I got a date pissed at me because I refused endless offers of candy from her.

Most children were far more addicted to candy than I was. I would give away most of my halloween candy to classmates.

Not immune to sweet things, but im definelty not more into it than most people.

My achilles heel is carbs. Offer me a wheelbarrow full of spaghetti and Ill put it away!

Breathing and eating must be AS traits too!

Sigh.
