There are a ton of firetrucks driving around my town with their sirens and lights on for christmas.....this seems very disruptive to me...

I live in the ghetto, near many criminals. I am also close to train tracks. I hear sirens of many different kinds going off and then trains chugging and honking daily. I'm used to most of it though. I actually get a bit excited when the sirens are going off, makes me think "I wonder what's going on now!"

then why do it? It seems counter productive..I understand that they are trying to spread cheer but
1-It is annoying and upsets my dog and me
2-It makes people think there are fires going on
3-they are wasting firemen that could be sued for real fires.
4-gives pyromaniacs a better opportunity to do damage and have courage

In our town, people line the street, the firetrucks are decorated with Christmas lights, and people on the trucks throw candy to the kids on the sidewalks. It is considered a parade. My house is on the route. I actually liked it because it nostalgically reminded me of growing up in a small town where things like parades were simple and "homemade" as opposed to the monstrosity of most major parades today where companies spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to create giant blow-up creatures that serve no purpose. It was nice to see all the families out together. You don't really see this stuff in big cities.

I hate fire engines. I'm glad that they're there to fight fires but the sirens hurt my ears. Don't see a lot around here though.
