The last party I went to was for a friends 40th. The friend is an Aspie; so tried (and succeeded in my opinion) to make it as Aspie friendly as possible. :)

I had to go to a work Xmas party on Friday. Small talk ok for 5 minutes, the. Cue awkward silences, not knowing where to look. Etc.

I don't see the point of killing brain cells with alcohol, so I was on my own while everyone else was drinking.

Everyone was loud and I really felt different, odd one out, sad, isolated......

And people insisted on kissing - I just work with these people , I'm not related to them.

I ended up leaving early because I hit my tolerance limit.

I hate parties so much.

I had to scrub my face when I got home. I hate being touched and I'm germ phobic. Don't even like kisses from my OH.

For me, parties are more likely to be boring than torture, though if there is enough alcohol and noise, it becomes torture. Parties where the focus is on drinking and watching sports will just bore me out of my mind.

This is not always the case - I have been to a few good parties where I have socialized and enjoyed the atmosphere, even when others are drinking, though these are with older (more mature) people, not just college-age students.

I wouldn't use the word torture however they can be very boring at times which is why i would rather watch paint dry then attend a party.
