Hey WP,

So I've been diagnosed for a little over a year now, and have only received a formal diagnosis of Asperger's.

The more I engage with the Aspie community and talk with other aspies, however, the more I think that, like so many other Aspeis, I also have co-morbid disorders that are undiagnosed. When I hear of these things, it's been present my whole life, but when mentioned I hear "doesn't everyone?"/ "So what?" Or, in other cases "get over it"/"You are too smart to let that small thing stop you".

I've been diagnosed with Asperger's 3 times now, so I think it's safe to say I officially have that, but all the other tests I've been given come back completely normal. I'm not schizo-typical or depressed (ooh that's a favorite of the doctors though!) or ADHD or whatever... at least not any more. I was told I was ADHD growing up by parents with kids with ADHD.

So my question to you is- what are your co-morbids? Were you officially diagnosed with them? How? Is it worth it to look into?

"Co-morbids" I suspect (confirmed in my opinion):

Dyscalculia (the numbers-dyslexia)
Hypermobility - Can bend fingers on both hands at first joint
Circadium Rhythm Disorder- practically nocturnal. Sleep from circa 6am to 2pm when left to my own devices

Not formally diagnosed with any of these, but I see the symptoms as clearly in my life as I see those of Asperger's.

I also have social anxiety, which I think was caused by not having a diagnosis and support for all my life, and also having been bullied from the age of 6. Luckily I will be getting my diagnosis soon, along with support, and am looking into setting up my own business so I can't be bullied in a work environment again.

Oh! Yes, then there's social anxiety. Actually, I was diagnosed with anxiety by one doctor, but to me that is just kind of part of social issues with autism, isn't it? Or is it co-morbid? Ah! So confusing.

It's a common co-morbid condition with autism/Aspergers but not everyone has it. Mine has improved quite a lot over the last few years, I can be very loud and confident in the right situations.

Huh. Ok, Guess I have that too then. It used to not be so bad- maybe even non-existant but now even being around 4 extra people can send me into high-stress-zones

I've been officially diagnosed with Asperger's and ADHD-C, though during the diagnoses the various shrinks even suspected I could have disorders like schizofrenia, Tourette's, ODD, OCD or GAD, but they've always been "possible" conditions, so I'm not officially diagnosed with them.

I'm officially dx with:
HFA
and
Gender Identity Disorder

As a child I was dx with dyslexia, but not anymore.

I know that I have a Tic disorder, but I was never interested in getting it diagnosed. It's also very mild.
I even still have to tell my new shrink.

From my new shrink I have a bipolar suspicion, but he still wants to wait and see.
I have at least depressions, that's for sure.

Moderate-Severe Tourette's with OCD features.

Note on the hypermobility, I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. So yay bendy people.
