Potential Aspie - A Very New Idea to Me
Hi,
It's been a bit of a weird week. I'm almost 30 and it's been suggested to me that I might have mild asperger's. It wasn't something I've considered before, but it would explain a lot.
Could you please advise me on what I can expect during diagnosis? I have my pre-referral appointment next week and I feel really shocked. I don't want to start reading up on the subject as it will go on for hours, I'd rather someone just explained it to me straight. How does diagnosis work?
Thank you.

That depends on which country you are in; whether you go private or through a state health option; if your country has any rules about how it must be done; if private what the individual clinician prefers.
There are a variety of screening tools so which one is used depends on some of the above. It also might depend on whether your country uses the DSM4 or 5 or the IDC-10.
