As it turns out I am depressed. I saw it coming, there was no avoiding it. I am on meds for it but I am pretty sure they don't work. I am already on ADHD meds which make me hyper and when I take the anti-depesents with the ADHD meds I feel super hyper. Not happy, not even better then before, just hyper and jittery. It is the week end and I am the loneyest 16 year old girl I know. My two little sibblings have a better socail life and love life then I do. I can feel the week end depression setting in as friday fades into saturday. And to make matters worse my boyfriend broke up with me for not being able to express my emotions as well as normal people. Would more meds help or do I just need to suck it up and deal with being sad and alone the rest of my life?

I am not the best person to ask, but I think that when ANYONE presents themselves in a psychiatrists office, then the psychiatrist will find a problem that they can "treat." And they will have you coming back for years. The doctor will ask you, "How are you feeling?"

Hey, Kaelynn; I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. How about seeing the Doc who prescribed the meds? The Doc needs to know how the meds are effecting you; perhaps they need to be changed or adjusted.

I didn't like the doctor. I am very picky about doctors and theripists and I didn't like this dude. And I can't really go back and see him again right now anyway because my mom would need to take me and she probably won't because she knows I don't like him. She didn't like him much either.

If ADHD meds make you hyper, they aren't working like they are supposedvto.

Some people with Bipolar end up with a manic episode from antidepressants and ADHD meds, please speak to your prescribing doctor about the effects of both meds asap.

But didnt the doc say something like, "It takes a while for the pills to work their magic?"

It usually takes about 3 weeks for anti depressants to take effect. What med did he give you?

This seems like an extreme option, but I suggest asking another doctor for low doses of MDMA to see if that would help.

(MDMA = exctasy for those unawares)

i've been on antidepressants for about 6 years which is way before my asd diagnosis happened, but at my assessment this week they did tell me i will also be on the antidepressants for the rest of my life because they take the 'sting' away of the depression and anxiety that being on the spectrum causessssssssss and also help greatly with my ocd stuff.

It makes such a big difference to get a therapist who is a good fit for you. Do you know anyone in therapy who is happy with their therapist or could you ask a doctor to recommend someone the doctor believes to be really good with patients?
