I am positive that this question has been asked a hundred times on WP but I am going to ask anyways. What's your main interests? How often do you indulge in your interests? Mine is listening to music and psychology (mostly AS).

My special interest is in understanding the socio-political and cultural conditions that have led the West in general, and the US in particular, to become what it is now. As such, my special interest is multi-disciplinary, and involves the humanities, social scienes, and a bit of the hard sciences, particularly the newer evolutionary sciences. This has been my passion since I learned how to read (I'm fifty now). I think I became interested in these things to try to fit in with a socio-political world I don't understand, and doesn't understand me.

I'm fascinated with near-death experiences and afterlife theories and anything remotely connected with those. Other strong interests are: vegetarianism, cats (big and small), and quantum physics (though I am woefully inept in science).

Cockney Rebel and doordoctor -I admire your devotion to your special interests - having the same ones for years and years. I love seeing your posts, they appeal to my need for some consistency. Mine fluctuate a bit more.

My main one is reading fantasy/science fiction novels and a minor one is WP and autism . Another minor one is etymology (i.e breaking down words, knowing their roots and their origin-the evolution and history of words).

My main interests are geology and etymology.
This means I pass most of my time comparing words from different languages to see if they have the same root. It's kind of fun.
I also like observing different types of rocks and minerals, and knowing more about volcanos and earthquakes.
I also have another interest, which is mythology.
I like reading about the mythology of various ancient civilizations (I'm not much interested in Greek or Roman mythology though).
Another interest that absorbs part of my time is astronomy.

I don't have a special interest (I think) but currently, I am interested in ASDs, developmental psychology (primarily concerning infants and children) and the Japanese language.

As for what else I spend time on, there are two things worth to mention.

First is music. I never had the opportunity to study music and so far, all texts I tried to learn from about musical theory were geared towas adults and had this sort of odd or complicated language that I had a hard time understanding.

The other thing might be close to a special interest in that my interest in it is intense and (in relation to the rather small content) "unusually" long-lasting as well as that my way of spending time on it is highly repetitive (but not boring!). There's an anime/manga series of which I like to watch/read some every day.

Other than that, when it comes to interests that involve some sort of activity...

actually, I realise that an interest such as learning japanese involves plenty of activity too, but in my mind, that's not a hobby like doing sports. Maybe I think so because the "intention" of attempting to learn Japanese doesn't change whereas an interest such as "playing video games" or "reading books" is hardly specific beyond the actions of playing or reading but can involve several diverse topics. Even the details of how the actions of playing and reading are performed usually change depending on the subject that is played or read. There's less stability, more change involved in these. Does that make sense?

I might think of some interest really different from others because the ones involving less stability tend to demand a lot more energy of me even though I love doing them too!

Anyway, I love playing video games, mostly rpgs and I enjoy watching anime, reading manga, reading books (mostly for teens/young adults) athough I don't have much time for any of these since I started university last year. Oh, I almost forgot about it but I do kung-fu!

My main obsessions/interests in order are:
Sociology, Psychology, Other social sciences and related disciplines, Human Physiology (and related disciplines), The Arts(all of them), Sports (and fitness), Philosophy (particularly spiritual, moral and political), Socialising, Trying new things, Various Scientific Disciplines, Cats (of all varieties), Horticulture

I'd say the list kind of goes on, TV is probably at the bottom (and I only really watch sci-fi, cartoons, anime and documentaries)

I think mine is Handedness.

I was born left handed and recently I have started training my right hand to be better at writing.

Since then I have started looking up ambidextrousness, mixed-handedness, studies of handedness, facts, etc.
