Do you have certurn items, be they soft toys, car keys, ext ext, that help comphert you if you feel really autistic, or scared, or have trouble sleeping?

My comphert item is my plush doll of Riku, from the kingdom hearts video games. Since I got him, my obsessive compulsive disorders about preppies/girly girls have lessend (on average), I can listen to the tv A LITTLE now and not get as scared, I can actually sleep without putting my fingers in my ears again, and, sometimes, he's even been able to get me out of meltdown attacks over my 'word phobias' (which i should make a thread about sometime).

I carry him around with me all over my house, like he's my teddy bear, he almost never leaves my side, 'cept maybe when I walk my dog (plus if my got at him i'd be utterly mortified. this doll means a lot to me). He also goes to the hospital ER with me when I have to go there, too. I also carry him around in a bag with me when I go out places with my mom, in case i have axiety attacks and need to hug him or get bored out of my mind (which gives me the worst migrains) and need something to entertain myself. He also has helped me with boredom, too. I don't know what i'd do without this doll nowdays.

Everyday, I even talk to him sometimes, I ask him questions about life and he nods or shakes his head in responce to them. Or puts his soft hand to his mouth. It is soooo cute.

I hug and kiss him a lot and even wish I could marry him  Cuz I also have a serious crush on this doll. And he feels like a real person to me. I try to always take the best of care of him, too.

Outside my doll, I guess my dog, simba counts a bit 'cuz walking him has encouraged me to calm down a lot at times. Which, in turn, has lessend ocd synthums at times (even though i still need to be medicated). And I didn't have the doll till like more resently so he probably does help a lot on his own. My mom even calls him an aspie support dog, eben without an offishal licence. But I can only spend so much time with him till he starts to try to 'dominate' and stuff so i needed a play mate i could always be with, one that can maybe one day allow me to function in the real world.....if its even possable for me.

No other stuffed toy seemed to calm me quite like my riku does. he's special...

I'd like to hear everyone elses stories about their comphert items now. :)

Hmm....most 22 year olds do not have such comfort items.

Yes, I have the same soft toy cat I've had since I was 4. I can't sleep without it.
And I have a cuddly chick, and 2 other soft cuddly toys that I carry in my bag. I find cuddling them helps lower my anxiety.
I make the chick talk sometimes. I've done that for years. I don't feel so lonely when I do that.

I have a little stuffed animal coin purse and a tiny glass animal. The coin purse is very soft with the cutest face and is always smiling at me. The glass animal is the most gorgeous blue and is very smooth and beautiful. It soothes me to touch them and look at them and even talk to them. Sometimes I make up stories about them too.

Like the OP said, I always reach for them when I have an anxiety meltdown. I sometimes kiss the plush one too because he is so soft. I don't take them out with me though because I don't want to lose them or let them get dirty.

I've had this bedsheet that I've rubbed down to strips; the bed sheet was mine from when I was very young. Her name is Sheety sheet, and I love her texture. She's very comforting to rub when I have meltdowns because her texture pulls me away from everything.

These are all my little "comfort friends." I love these kinds of threads. :D

I also have a soft raschel blanket with Lightning McQueen on it that I've grown accustomed to sleeping with. I've had it for 5 years now, and at this point it's slightly worn...I still love it, tho. No matter where I'm sleeping, I feel safer sleeping as long as I have my Cars blanket and my plushies.
