Just a thought. Some say it represents Asperger's better than the DSM-IV-TR regarding Hans' paper, and it's used by various institutions.

I'm unsure if it's harder to meet (you do need all six apparently).

Quote:
Severe impairment in reciprocal social interaction (at least two of the following)
inability to interact with peers
lack of desire to interact with peers
lack of appreciation of social cues
socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior
All-absorbing narrow interest (at least one of the following)
exclusion of other activities
repetitive adherence
more rote than meaning
Imposition of routines and interests (at least one of the following)
on self, in aspects of life
on others
Speech and language problems (at least three of the following)
delayed development
superficially perfect expressive language
formal, pedantic language
odd prosody, peculiar voice characteristics
impairment of comprehension including misinterpretations of literal/implied meanings
Non-verbal communication problems (at least one of the following)
limited use of gestures
clumsy/gauche body language
limited facial expression
inappropriate expression
peculiar, stiff gaze

I have at least a couple from EVERY category on that list. Not surprising, since that is what always occurs.

Sincerely,

I think that I do for the most part. The "non-verbal communication problems" is a little iffy because I am not really sure if I have limited use of gestures (although I suspect I might), and I'm not exactly sure what my expressive language looks like. My best guess is that is awkward/not entirely appropriate - but for the most part my struggles are in interpreting other people's non-verbal language. And if "motor clumsiness" means that I walk into walls and injure myself constantly by accident, then I fit that one too.

socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior (yes)
All-absorbing narrow interest (at least one of the following)
exclusion of other activities (no)
repetitive adherence (yes)
more rote than meaning (no)

Included my answers in the quote:

Quote:
Severe impairment in reciprocal social interaction (at least two of the following) - [4/2]

inability to interact with peers - Yes.
lack of desire to interact with peers - Yes.
lack of appreciation of social cues - Yes.
socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior - Yes.

All-absorbing narrow interest (at least one of the following) - [2/1]

exclusion of other activities - Yes.
repetitive adherence - Yes.
more rote than meaning - Not really. However, there is a set of things I do everyday, you could say I tend/like to have a certain daily routine, even though it is not actively planned.

Imposition of routines and interests (at least one of the following) - [2/1]

on self, in aspects of life - Yes.
on others - Yes.

Speech and language problems (at least three of the following) - [3/3]

delayed development - No.
superficially perfect expressive language - Yes (people pointed that out in my native language, not sure about English though).
formal, pedantic language - Yes.
odd prosody, peculiar voice characteristics - Yes. I have a monotone voice (said my psychologist).
impairment of comprehension including misinterpretations of literal/implied meanings - Yes, as a kid I used to do that more often though. Nowadays I understand the concepts of sarcasm, irony and rhetorical devices fairly well, I guess (although I still catch myself interpreting things a bit too literally).

Non-verbal communication problems (at least one of the following) - [either 4/1 or 5/1]

limited use of gestures - Yes. Recently asked this my psychologist, she confirmed it.
clumsy/gauche body language - Yes.
limited facial expression - Yes. Asked my psychologist about that too.
inappropriate expression - Maybe, maybe not. I don't know, would have to ask someone.
peculiar, stiff gaze - Yes.

Motor clumsiness: poor performance on neurodevelopmental examination - Not sure, maybe a bit. If gross motor skills, then yes. If fine motor skills, then no. - [either 0/1 or 1/1]

It would most likely be motor clumsiness that would decide whether I would get a diagnosis or not.

Good point about the inablity, daydreamer... hmm...
I guess then it's a "No." too, because nowadays it's just more of a difficulty here. Anyway, still >2 in the first paragraph.

Yes, I'd make it by this criteria.

If I were diagnosed according to these criteria, I would probably be less frustrated with the AS label I was diagnosed with.

This criteria makes me not reject the AS label even though I wasn't diagnosed with it ;)

Well, that and reading Asperger's work.

Some of the criteria I wasn't sure exactly how to interpret, so I left them as no.

Quote:

Severe impairment in reciprocal social interaction (at least two of the following)
inability to interact with peers
lack of desire to interact with peers
lack of appreciation of social cues
socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior (I don't socialise enough to have the opportunity for this. Unless just standing there silently counts?)
All-absorbing narrow interest (at least one of the following)
exclusion of other activities
repetitive adherence
more rote than meaning
Imposition of routines and interests (at least one of the following)
on self, in aspects of life
on others
Speech and language problems (at least three of the following)
delayed development
superficially perfect expressive language
formal, pedantic language
odd prosody, peculiar voice characteristics
impairment of comprehension including misinterpretations of literal/implied meanings

Non-verbal communication problems (at least one of the following)
limited use of gestures
clumsy/gauche body language
limited facial expression
inappropriate expression
peculiar, stiff gaze
Motor clumsiness: poor performance on neurodevelopmental examination (never had a neurodevelopmental examination, but I'm quite clearly clumsy)
