If AS is supposed to be common amongst engineers and software developers then why is AS rarely mentioned on IT and engineering news websites? I have searched several of them and there is very little about AS with over half making references to a handful of computer hackers.

People who have ASDs often gravitate toward engineering and software development, but that does not mean that those professions are flooded with people with ASDs.

Since people with ASDs allegedly form less than 1% of the population, you can expect a similar percentage within the engineering and software professions.

Then again, it could be that only the highest-functioning autistics can make it as high-tech professionals to begin with, so that could drive the percentage down even lower.

But the bottom line is likely this: AS is not technical news, so don't expect to see AS mentioned on technical news websites.
