I have been thinking about bringing up the topic of weirdness with some of the few friends that I have. I'm just not sure if I'm going to tell if I have Asperger's though, or if I should just say that I'm a little weird and that's just how I am.

I made a little poll as I want some opinions on what you would say in a situation like this. If you've got other suggestions (hopefully you have other ideas than me), feel free to post them below.

Hi 1814

I wouldn't use the word weird in a "coming out" statement. Just my opinion.
I am thinking of telling closer friends but I would be more objective and use more matter of fact statement that exclude the word weird. But then I'm older...

No reason to talk negative about yourself. It is other people that has made you do this.

I'm really getting used to saying "ooh yea... and you're not. what, do you think you,re normal or something? what is soo great about being normal anyways? and what is it??? as soon as you have an answer for that, you can get back to me." honestly, as far as I'm concerned, I would have to say it is just some natrum mariticum garble. wich according to homeopathy, it is about 80% of the population. it's just sheeple stuff.

I'd like to think if someone is my friend that they don't think I'm weird.

No matter how HFA I eventually get I will mention my autism.
To me that is part of autism awareness.
I'm just not going to beat anyone over the head with it.

I once overheard someone talking about me. He said "oh yeah he's weird. But a cool kind of weird".

I'd say something like:

"Well, I'm not a particularly fake person; therefore, I say what I'm really thinking a lot of the time. I can see how that might come-off as "weird" to some people though".

Saying something similar to this would be a great comeback when an NT or sociopath implies that an autistic-person is "weird" as a common bullying tactic they like to use.

"Because of behavioural symptoms, I appear odd. Because of the social awkwardness that accompanies autism, I seem serious, aloof and arrogant."

Perhaps I should type this on a business hard and hand it out to people I meet.

I joke about being weird with people I know and they joke back. I get called alien as a joke and I've been compared to Sheldon Cooper, Seven of Nine and to Vulcans.
Also been called nerd and geek. (By friends who are also nerds and geeks)

I've only mentioned Asperger's with people who mentioned it first.
1) I told one person who told me her first impression was I was autistic
2) I told a co-worker who thinks she might have Asperger's or is at least BAP
3) i told someone else who was also diagnosed.

Everyone I know is weird. My coworker has 2-minute videos of his cats just rolling around on his phone that he wanted to show me.

Picked other poll option I did not mean to.
