I'm new and a bit of a creeper.

Alex did or do you play clarinet? I noticed the mention in your email address.

Have you not seen his photo before?
It would be strange for him to have a name username, very rare, and a picture of alex plank as his profile and not be alex plank.
Detective work!
*Dons his deer stalker hat (made up by movies and tv) and announces "ELEMENTARY MY DEAR WATSON!" (also made up and not part of the original Sherlock).*

I got to interview him over Skype for an article I wrote some time back (won't link to it here because I don't to reveal my true identity ;) ).

I met Alex at an autistic winter conference in Aarhus in 2012. Some of us were going out for a dinner with him afterwards, and after that again some fewer of us followed him to his hotel room, where we had a great time talking together, watching a movie and having chips, beer, soda or such. A real aspie party indeed. :D

My brain hurts.
This is difficult to figure out.
Who is trolling and who is not?
Can someone please explain this to me.

I haven't met Alex yet, but as a newly (almost) diagnosed Aspie/Autie, I am very grateful for this forum.

I do live in Los Angeles, so it's only a matter of time before we meet. I just am too scared to go to any meetings/conferences because I am "in the industry", and I don't want to be stigmatized while I'm early on in my career.

No I wouldn't consider that trolling

My opinion is that you have had the term troll applied to you a lot - by staff.
And if you are not a troll, maybe you should take into consideration how you
are sounding to others, since you seem to know what trolling is.

Dear Alex,

If you could change your surname to that of any other building material which would it be?

Alex Masonry - It gives a suggestion of mercenary along with an image of a freemason and therefore at least some air of mystery too.

Alex Gravel - Sounds like a cool name but the down side would be that the only transport you take is a massive motorbike and you would need to perfect the scowl look, which would of course be on display at all times.

Alex Timberframe - Would be a jolly bodybuilder. Though people would immediately think of Timberlake and so there would be some unfair pressure on you to be able to sing and dance.

Your feedback would be appreciated

regards

^^ The funniest thing for someone to write, is for someone to say someone else is built up of a timberframe, looks like a mason, even though he doesn't and employs a gravel mercenary which is what this tone implies to the reader.

There are too many threads all like this, hinting over and over at the same thing, which is.. you sort one concept and deal with the next, maybe another onsite street tech can show us all the difficulties that this task represents.

Instead of saying, who would you like to be, I'd say, what would you do with a site that has outgrown its life expectantcy on several old yet random threads about you, which before, you couldn't acknowledge, as you were tied up with meetings and endless seminars.
Perhaps reeling in a quantity surveyor would be more idealistic, any futuristic attempts at post upkeep should be closely monitored under the radar. If you lose sight of one thing, who knows who's going to come and hack its way next? I just hope you've kept up with all the spam filters and other things you've been saying, all users need their own private layers of add on security.

I do not know who might have been expecting less, but yes, quite impressive!

If I'd have wanted a seminar I'd have asked for one, but I think its possible you can outlive and outgrow both. The decision to take the lead on a site that is at times robotic and mass produced in some ways, and be endlessly corrosive in others and then disappear occasionally and at the drop of a hat returns unhindered and in many ways in need of a pick me up, when feeling low, means that the simple issues don't get dealt with and carry on regardless against principle.
I'd rather there be a frequent and responsive delegate here, that way all the problems get fixed, technical errors aside.

There's been some nasty stuff said about Alex on WP in the past, which I found upsetting. I've never met Alex in person, and I doubt I ever will, but I bet he is a great person. :D
