I have a really close group of friends who I hang out with about once per week, and a not-so-close group that hangs out once every month or two. I talk to both over fb a fair bit.

Not since high school (good ol' LAN parties for when the slow 'net of the time made games have a lot of lag, so hooking up several computers allowed us to mitigate that).

About 11 years ago or so.

Somewhat but not exactly, my brother has a lot of friends and I've gotten along well with most I've met and have even gone and hung out with them and such...but its not exactly 'my' social group its his social group which I am sometimes included in, I guess in a way its my social group to since I talk to these people and such but if it wasn't for my brother I wouldn't have met any of them.

I have sort of had groups of friends in the past but not really stayed in contact, currently I have one friend about twice as old as me I haven't seen in a while I actually probably should try and see him soon.....and I've met up with this guy around my age a couple times, might try dating but not sure yet. Then there is a bar by my house where if I go a couple people there may recognize me and talk to me but that is about all I have as far as people I've met myself rather than through other family members....though actually I met the older friend through my brother as well.

I did when I was with my ex-husband. There was a few guys who had been following the same career path as he did, we all moved to a different city at the same time (due to work), and we were seeing each other somewhat often. I have never talked to any of them since I left tho, and they were more his friends than mine.

But if you mean personal social group (i.e. friends that are actually my friends), then not in "real life", but I did have good social groups in online games (i.e. people in my guilds), I have met some people there with whom I still communicate occasionally (through email).

No, I was in a good one in my late teens though, had a group of about 4 friends that would get together and play world of warcraft...those were realy great times for me, although back then I had no idea I was an aspie and kept struggling to find myself in the conversations on ventrilo, it seems especially sad that I couldn't rationalize the reason why I couldn't find anything to say and yet I wanted to take part in the conversations so badly.

Regardless, those were some really great times for me, even though I wasn't a real presence, they were all pretty nice to me, although they all drifted away by now, and I did try to reestablish contact, although they're all always too busy with life. Sometimes I resubscribe to WOW with the naive fantasy that I will find another similar group on that game again, although I just end up soloing and not talking to anyone, but it's nostalgic, albeit sad to faintly taste those memories.

Not currently, no. The closest I've had to a real social group was in middle school and high school, but only two of them were my friends and the rest were friends of friends or people who shared our table at lunch. Everyone was weird then, so I didn't stand out as much as I did elsewhere.

Friends are rare enough for me that having a social group is an unlikely occurrence.

In a way. My only friend has a social group, so I hang out with them by default.
But I'm not really part of it, I just happen to be there.
Not that they cut me out or anything, I just don't connect.

No, except for mandatory attendance. I must socialise in the work setting. That is generally achievable as long as I can drink a lot and of course there are limits to that particular tactic. Outside of work, I attend social activity to satisfy expectations, mostly those of my wife and once again I need to drink to feel ok. Thankfully my wife is very understanding. Based on this short summary of my social activities, I definitely don't belong to a social group in any sense other than as a form of social compliance. When I did belong to social groups it always ended unhappily and so I have worked out that I'm happier on my own. My immediate family is enough for me.

When I was a teen we had a family of 9 and a family of 13 on my block plus a lot of other teens (they called the baby boom for a reason) We would hang out on the corner then graduated to cruising around in cars.

Now I go to 2 or 3 Aspergers/HFA support groups a month. Some of us go to a diner after the meetings.

I guess you could say I have a few, although most of them I don't see very often.

The most frequent is a ladies group for girls with Aspergers around high school or college age. We meet about once a week and go to different places togther with a mentor or one of our parents. I have done a theater summer camp that I've gone to (as a camper and then as a counselor) for 9 years now, but it is only 3 weeks every summer. I sometimes go to a catholic young adult group. I also tag along with my brothers and sisters and some of their friend groups have sort of become mine as well.
