For the last few weeks or so my sleep has been totally backwards. I hate it as I am up all night but can't get my errands done. Then I'm sleeping during the day and sometimes my neighbours are loud outside yelling to each other & wake me up.

I read alot of some of the many threads here of Aspies whose sleep is completely screwed up. It's very reassuring that so many of us have this problem though. I've been a late-nighter "night owl" type since I was young.

I have tried everything I can think of to reverse it back: yesterday I tried to stay up all night and all the whole day but couldn't stay awake past about 3 p.m. and then I woke at 9 p.m. and I've been up since.

I've tried melatonin but it doesn't make me sleepy enough, only sluggish, but I still don't sleep.

I've tried marijuana brownies (I have my medical marijuana prescription) they just make me hungry and sluggish. I can't use too much of it as too much makes my heart race and with my POTS I already have that problem! (POTS and pot don't mix  )

If you don't work, and your sleep schedule is bass ackwards like this, do you fight it? Or do you just go with it and eventually your sleep gets pushed forward and 'goes around the clock' (sorry I don't know how to explain it!) and at some point you're falling asleep at night again?

I get the impression if I just leave it alone that's what will happen.

It's no use going to bed earlier; I've tried that & I just lie there. I feel there is a big difference between being tired and being sleepy. I can be tired or overtired but if I'm not sleepy it's no use. Even reading a boring book doesn't do it.

Pretty much anything dairy works for me----a big bowl of cereal, a big bowl of ice cream, rice pudding, a sandwich and a glass of milk. I plan it out, though----like, if I wanna go to sleep by 11pm, I make sure I've done something to help me along, no later than 9pm.

There is a med similar to melatonin called Rozerem/Ramelteon that helps with falling & staying asleep. Here's a clickable Wiki link for it.

I have sleep struggles as well. Most of which are due to my medications. Like, my concerta literally boots everything I try to take to help me sleep at night. It's an extended release, and I've tried stopping it, but I have to do it by lowering the dose. So, I did that, but it didn't work out for me at all. D:
