Some people just aren't meant to be in relationships and I'm one of them.

I'm meant to love but not meant to be in a romantic relationship. Heck, I can barely handle friendships without ruining them.

I'm in my thirties and I never really dated, even though I'm married lol.

What I mean is I never did the dating thing but I did talk to women, but when I happened to meet a woman and we both just clicked and for the first time the effort of a relationship seemed worth it and I was cool with spending my life with her. We're still married a decade later.

is this to say that you married her, without much courtship?

We didn't really go on dates, just spent time together and talked. I don't even remember the point we considered each other BF/GF, it just seemed to happen organically.

Like I said I could never do the whole dating thing, it seems so fake.

Do you find yourselves in typical gender roles?

I am open to it but wouldn't even know how to start.
Hoping that my situation may change next year.

Animals are easier!! :D

Is there anyone else here who falls into that category?

same except that I don't hope my situation will change next year as I want to be well and ok with myself before I even think about dating!

I have never dated. I am 30. I had girlfriends in the past and sex in the past but I don't know if I have ever gone on any dates.

my gut feeling tells me there are more men like this than there are women, but according to this article, this guy knows more than 350 guys that are aged 30 and older who are still virgins:http://www.themodernman.com/sex-advice/im-still-a-virgin.html

I'm 64 and have had so few dates it could probably be considered negligible. First date was at age 35, but I already knew the person. Next was at age 43 with a small smattering of dates six months later. I am gay for whatever difference it makes but a failure at that too with only 10 sex encounters from age 20 to age 43, excluding age 35 when I briefly had a halfway uncooperative partner and none at all since age 48.

It depends on what you mean by dating. I've had relationships but they didn't exactly involve "dating" in the sense of going out on dates. They just happened by hanging out with someone.

There is a masculinist line of discussion in which men become more eligible with age, and women become less eligible -- men, through their attainments, and women, because of their biological clocks.

*raises hand awkwardly*

I'm single, thirty and never been in a real relationship. I want to be in one though. But I'm scared of getting hurt. Life would be technically simpler if I stayed single, but I don't want to be single anymore.
