I'm curious to see the diversity of special interests among us. Mine are guns and, more recently, chainsaws.

Has been that for years for the most part. Wrestling is an off and on special interest as well.

Radiohead said it best when they said 'Anyone Can Play Guitar'.

Full disclosure: I can't bend my hands to play 'proper' chords. I know a lot of fingerings for diads (two note combinations) though.

You might never get good at it (I certainly haven't in the 15+ years I've played) but you can probably get good enough to play parts of songs you like or to maybe try to write your own music.

Fretless bass is the way to go, that's what I play (a 5 string Yamaha fretless model through a Markbass 500 watt amp). I find it's much more gentle for my fingers, as frets tend to hurt mine after awhile.

Sorry to go off topic, just thought I'd comment since you brought up bass.

Awesome. Hopefully you get it back soon if they're done with it. :)

Fretless bass sounds awesome, but I'd get lost on the neck.

For a while it was accordion, but now accordion is just an interest. I've been having an interest in religion for about six months and it looks like Judaism will become my special interest.
