How's your sense of smell?

Mine is horrible, rarely can I smell identify anything, except maybe chemical smells. When I do smell something, however, it is a wonderful feeling. I believe this is somehow related to my mental condition given the recent research on smell and schizophrenia, and that I suffer from psychosis. Just wondering if anyone else has problems with this sense.

I just have a very acute sense of smell... I smell everything...smoke in the air, someone's perfume if someone wearing it has walked along the same road as me etc. My sensitivity to smell is such that I begin retching if I smell something unpleasant, am in some sort of elative state if I smell something I like or end up with a headache and stress if I smell a strong perfume or chemical...bleach is one smell I cannot bear and can bring on an anxiety attack.

Normal, I smell what most people smell.

i have an above average sense of smell. when someone sprays perfume in class it smells so bad and the smell is very strong.

I think I answered wrong. I answered bad because I'm oversensitive to a lot of smells. Oxidizing alcohol makes me sick, as does vomit. Sweat makes me sick too.
I can choke on perfumes and can't stand the smell of dogwood blossoms.

About average.

I'm in a similar situation to Graelwyn.

Most perfumes sicken me.

I can smell a 1 cm diameter small stain of dog poop on the corner of a couch on the opposite side of the living room, and it smells like its comming from my own shoes.

My sense of smell is above average.

I can smell only the things that I'm used to smelling.

Haha, that reminds me of a recent incident. There was a stinking rubbish bag in the kitchen here(shared house) and it absolutely was disgusting. I had to remove it...couldn't bear it any longer... it had god knows what on the bottom of it so I held it at a distance and put it outside. I got back to my room and sat down when I noticed this smell like dog poo...so I sniffed all around my desk like a dog, trying to locate the source...it drove me mad, I tried to ignore it, but I couldn't comcentrate on anything because of this smell. I finally realised it was a small area on the bottom of my trousers from that rubbush bag and hastilly removed them and tossed them in the wash.

Same here. I have a really acute sense of smell, when I'm not smoking. The smoking cuts it way down though. But still, when I get up in the morning, my senses of taste and smell are fantastic.

My sense of smell is skewed, just like sight and sound. I can smell some things others can't, and not smell some things others do. I once had a dog that was skunked. Others thought he stunk. I didn't! I DO remember in a school I went to where I could be ANYWHERE there, and tell you what they were cooking, and others didn't have a clue.

Extra sensitive sense of smell. My cats' litter boxes are two room away from my bedroom, they've got covers on them and there's an air filter right next to the boxes. If the cat uses the litterbox in the middle of the night, the odor still wakes me up, even through two closed doors. I have to get up and scoop in the middle of the night a lot of the time.
