Right now I'm listening to Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto for about the 50th time :-) and I notice a lot of what attracts me is the emotions it allows me to experience: excitement, intensity, resolution!, meaningfulness, presentness in the moment, love-like feelings.....and it's a kind of exchange with some[one]thing else.

I guess for me it's like having pets. Music has always kept me company since I was a kid, and I always liked very complicated/sophisticated music while all my peers were listening to the top ten hits. So this was one more way to set me apart from them. When I was about 5, I remember hiding in a corner with a transitor radio I got for my birthday (this is 1957) with the volume on low and the radio pressed to my ear, and listening to Beethoven--not popular with my brothers and sisters (although my mom like Chopin, which was good).

Only the music of Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin ("Enya"), especially her a cappella pieces -- her voice is very soothing.

The song, "You raise me up" by Josh Groban always seems to uplift me when I feel depressed.

I have a favourite saying. "Music dulls the pain."

It helps a tiny bit, still feel suicidal though.

yeah, it does for me - and other things I like of course.

It's much more soothing to learn the piece and then play it for yourself, over - and over - and over; Like Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" First movement.

Beautiful music.

I used to feel suicidal, but I found ways to feel better. Would you like to know any of the ways that helped me. I don't want to push them on you. But I'd like you to know that it happens that it's so painful that wish you weren't alive, but then you could feel good. After being so depressed I was hospitalized, I can now say I am on the happy side of the spectrum.

Are you feeling that way right now?

Yes music does soothe my loneliness, especially songs by grunge bands such as Hole.

Oh yes! You have to like exactly what you like. That's important. Sometimes I look at my profile and the music I like and it's all pretty obvious stuff. But you gotta go with what you really like.

Music does seem to help. What other music do you like Wonder Woman?
