If someone poked my eye then I think I'd be justified in breaking their nose, tbh.

Is it stimming or lack of impulse control? If I knew you couldn't control it I wouldn't get angry but I would definitely hold your hands still. I can't imagine anybody who would tolerate that.

I personally wouldn't call this a stim, just being sadistic and having no control over your actions.

Poke my eye, I break your arm/s. ;)

I would stand away from you so my eyes won't get hurt.

So, there's no conscious thought that goes through your head about eye poking, or biting? Am I getting that right? Sometimes, with my son, I wonder if some of his aggressive behavior is more about instinct, than it is about being mean when he's irritated. Like, if I'm angry my first instinct is to yell. If you can't control it at all, I wonder if any of the current behavior modification methods that are used with ASD kids would help at all. If it's instinct, all of the positive reinforcement in the world wouldn't matter, nor would the negative.

When I was a kid, I used to push on my eyes, as a stim. It makes really cool patterns, and colors when you do that.

So poking your eyes back won't teach you to stop.

Ive poked my own eyes since i can remember. I would do it when i was very toung before bed. I would get this weird sickly anxiety feeling in my eyes and i would have to poke my eyes to cause pain to get rid of the feeling. I do it till i go to sleep. When im frustrated, anxious i have to do it,just speaking about it now i have to pome my eyes to make the feeling go away.

I did that too. I have always imagined that everyone does that as part of the normal process of exploring reality.

If someone poked my eye I would hit them with sufficient force to ensure that they did not contemplate a second attack. Probably with a punch to the face or solar plexus, possibly with a back fist or elbow strike if they were immediately adjacent to me.

It's hard for me to understand such a focused, targeted action that you have no control over--this is so alien to my experience that I can't imagine it.

It's very dangerous and you should make every effort to find some way to prevent it from happening. Is there no way to refocus on something else?
