My dad's girlfriend showed me this cool app for android and iOS phones today. It's a simple text-based app that aspies can use in situations where they can't speak, such as during meltdowns or shutdowns. It's really easy to use, and I think it's going to make life a lot easier for me! Do any of you use anything similar? Has it ever come in handy in an emergency?

Here's a link to an article they wrote about it:

Wow, this seems very interesting. Most apps like this are only for Android, so...

Yeah, this one started out for android, but they've since updated it (as of two days ago I think) to be compatible with iOS as well. I've practised using it a couple of times on other people, and it's funny how, even when I can speak fine and am under no stress, I still feel better typing than speaking. It's almost like I'm inside a protected glass box, and instead of opening the door to communicate (speaking), I'm sliding notes to the outside world through the letter box, while remaining safe and secure on the inside. Before, I used to have periods when I wouldn't speak for several hours on end, just because I didn't feel like opening the door, but the feeling of internal pressure I got from having things I wanted to communicate, but not doing, always forced me into speaking. This might be a useful alternative.
