I do this all the time - usually, to help myself work out a problem or to keep track of tasks I must do.

I am taking driving lessons with a professional instructor, and I was talking to myself during the lessons to remind myself where to turn, what to do with the controls, when to speed up/slow down, etc. The instructor told me that he tells his students to do this for the exact reasons I mentioned! :D He was actually glad that I started doing it myself, without prompting.

if I didn't have me and myself and I to talk to, 99.99% of the time there'd be nobody else.

I have no diagnosed conditions but I talk to myself all the time. Especially if I need to think through a problem. It helps me focus. I always considered it to be a human thing, we all have to process information one way or another some of us just need it verbalized.

I talk to myself quite frequently. I can occupy myself for a long time.

I do it mostly when I'm alone to organize my thoughts. I internalize my responses a lot when I'm in public, so I like to hear my thoughts verbally instead in my privacy so I can work things out. But sometimes I talk to myself, especially at my job, and my annoying workmate will "WHAT WAS THAT?" or respond to what I've said, and I'll completely ignore her/pretend I didn't hear her . At times I'll do the whole talking quietly and "Okay, that's done. Next task. Do such-and-such. I am doing such-and-such," in order to walk myself through my work tasks, haha.

But when I'm overwhelmed with anxiety, I'll repeat aloud things over and over again to get it out until I feel calmer, and if I'm recalling something incredibly dumb I've said, I will actually compulsively repeat the dumb thing over and over (in my privacy) as I regret ever engaging in conversations at all =_=. I just can't help it :<

Yep - that sounds familiar. :( I'll know I'm doing it, but I can't stop.
