I've observed a few Aspies that have kind of odd hair. As for my own hair, if I cut it short at the top it will stand up til it becomes long again. I've also observed some Aspie females that have odd hair twirls in the back of their neck.

So, do you have odd hair, and if so, what's odd about it?

I have a double whorl at the top of my head. It's not very noticeable because I have a Mod haircut that hides it.

I have hair that looks sorta like a receding-hairline even though it isn't(been in exact same spot for many years). I actually prefer it over a full-head-of-hair.

I have inherited the insane Chinese hair from my grandpa. It sticks up in all directions and doesn't even need hair gel. It's usually difficult and frustrating to control.

I have 3 hair whorls, I can do the wolverine look without even trying. I wouldn't be surprised if they found hair whorls to be higher in ppl on the spectrum. I've wondered if aspies have more forward set eyes too; idk. I think about it, and then I think of the facial profiling done during the holocaust, and it creeps me out and I quit for awhile.

It's because most aspies don't care about using hair gel in the morning and some won't even brush their hair.

Odd hair has nothing to do with Aspergers but 100% genetics. Except that, as previously stated, a lot of aspies could care less about hair style and have messy hair.

A recent Swedish study reported that the whole genetic and environmental cause of autism was about 50/50...and they had no idea as to what was causing what at this stage of research.

So while hair whorls and forward set eyes are definitely genetically determined, they 'could be' correlative markers for the presence of autism related genes...who knows? My hair has extra cowlicks and whorls and my eyes are a bit forward and closely set as well.

Might be a good subject for a grad student looking for a statistical analysis project?

I don't know, my hair is pretty normal and my eyes are deep set. :D

my hair has many cowlicks, is thin and asymmetrical both in its growth patterns as well as in its distribution. if I don't grow it long it goes all over the place. it is always knotted somewhere it seems. and my eyes are on the shallow side in terms of how deep-set they are, in the manner of many Asians.

I have a weird slant to my eyes that makes me look either like i have Down's Syndrome or I'm Chinese. Even though I am as white (as in no sun) as it's possible to be - which don't ask me why that is because I ride my bike everywhere, I just stay white - Chinese people have mistaken me for being Chinese. I think combined with my Autistic awkwardness and sometimes slurred speech from jaw surgery, others have assumed I have Down's Syndrome.

My hair is insane. It sticks up in the back. One time one of the partners in my firm gave me a high five for getting a hair cut.

does the jaw surgery make it hard to open and close your mouth?

No, except when I'm at the dentist and he wants me to open it really wide. But half my face is numb including part of my jaw so I slur sometimes. When I'm highly stressed, my entire jaw just starts "going elsewhere." You know like that horror movie with the hand that does what it wants to, regardless of what the person is trying to get it to do?

I had a deformed jaw. My teeth were down to my chin so they took my teeth out, moved my jaw and then put my teeth back in. But not until I was 20, I went through school like that. Fun fun fun!
