What about a new option: "other-diagnosed"
You come here, you ask and all of us experts tell you that you definitely are on the spectrum. Wouldn't that be more reliable than an NT psychiatrist anyway?

And what if Michael Jackson joins? What do we classify "him" as? And what about Cher or Joan Rivers? Those three have had so much plastic surgery I'm not sure they're even human anymore.

My data showed 38% women form the top 250 posters. Oh if we do get a list of all the members and then we will be able to answer do women post more often.

No, there's still a lot of other factors that need to be considered. For instance, all the people here own computers, which is not reflective of the general population.

Female, undiagnosed. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm self-diagnosed, but I'm pretty much beyond any doubt that I have AS. I was kind of hoping though when I joined this site that there would be an option for "on the spectrum" because I'm sure of that.

Yeah but we are only trying to answer the male female break down on WP and I would
expect male and females to have about the same access to computers in the general population.

Aylissa's right-- there should have been an "other ASD-- diagnosed" and an "other ASD-- self diagnosed" for each gender group in this poll.

It is 45%/55% female/male now.

Your poll scientific validity has been crushed with TM1's and 0_equals_true's data. Your
keeping it going out of stubborn pride. :)

I think both are good but show slightly different things.

The spider is about all the members that could be sort, not just the active ones.

The spider's margin for error:
1. Out of date
2. Errors specifying
3. Dishonesty
4. Duplication of accounts
5. Not all options are the same type

The spider's advantages
1. Large amount of data
2. Vast majority provided in good faith
3. Gives a wider picture
4. Can show a timeline back to 2004

The poll is about the members who take part, giving a current snapshot of active members

The poll's margin for error:
1. Errors specifying
2. Dishonesty
3. Not all options are the same type
4. Deliberate duplication possible

The poll's advantages
1. Current
2. Anonymous (some might want specify on their profile)
3. Duplication less likely but possible

I thought the most interesting data was that all 3 cases unsure, undiagnosed and
Diagnosed had about the same ratio's. Of around say 2 males to 1 females.

Female: unsure: 514: 35%
Male: unsure: 965: 65%

Female: Undiagnosed AS: 580 : 35%
Male: Undiagnosed AS: 1063: 65%

Female: Diagnosed: 1150 : 29%
Male: Diagnosed: 2785 : 71%

It means diagnosed by a Licensed or Certified Medical or Mental Health
professional, ie a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, or Neurologist who is familiar
with Autism or Asperger Syndrome or other ASD/PDD.
