Feyokien: I knew somebody who was a big Warren Zevon fan--to the point where he was extremely sad when he passed away.

I haven't heard too many of his other songs, though.

Years ago, my heart was set to live, oh
But I've been trying hard against unbelievable odds
It gets so hard in times like now to hold on
My guns they're waiting to be stuck by
At my side is God (NOTE: not religious but this jibes with my belief there is a positive power or force - maybe that's what Big Star meant as well)

And there ain't no one goin' turn me 'round
Ain't no one goin' turn me 'round

There's people around who tell you that they know
The places where they send you, and it's easy to go
They'll zip you up and dress you down
Stand you in a row
But you know you don't have to
You could just say no

And there ain't no one goin' turn me 'round
Ain't no one goin' turn me 'round
Ain't no one goin' turn me 'round
Ain't no one goin' turn me 'round

I've been built up and trusted
Broke down and busted
But they'll get theirs and we'll get ours
Just if we can
Just, ah, hold on
Hold on
Hold on
Hold on

Years ago my heart was set to live, oh
But I've been trying hard against strong odds
It gets so hard at times like now to hold on
Well, I'll fall if I don't fight
And at my side is God

Ain't there no one goin' turn me 'round
Ain't no one goin' turn me 'round
Ain't no one goin' turn me 'round

That's right....as long as you don't hurt somebody else, it's proper to assert the right to "be yourself."

Don't let people change you....unless it would definitely be a positive change for you.

Agreed, Kortie. BTW, thanks for putting Zevon in my head. I just put on Werewolves of London and I'm howling at the ceiling. :) Love that song.

What's funny is that I want to howl with every thing inside me, but too self conscious. Even when alone and nobody to bear witness, I am that self conscious.

Go guys, go!!

"Sleepwalking" has been my theme song for almost three years now.
The words have been in my signature since I joined.
The singer of the song has always been my avatar.
I'm not getting over this obsession any time soon.

I remember you mentioning your avatar before in relation to something before. But I did not get the reference at all. Now it all makes sense.....Nice to put that one to rest LOL

The manliest love song I know

You are in Shock! With love, the sky comes crumbling down
You are in Shock! It comes crumbling down into my heart
Even if you bind this fervid heart down in chains, it’s now to no avail
I’ll knock down whoever stands in my way with but a fillip of my finger

You are in Shock! With love, pulses quicken
You are in Shock! With love, my pulse quickens
Seeking you, this vagrant heart is now fervidly ablaze..
.. mercilessly thrusting around and melting everything

So as to safeguard our love..
.. you set out on a journey.. losing sight of tomorrow
Your face, so oblivious of a smile.. is not what I desire to see..
.. bring love back!

You are in Shock! With love, tear darkness into pieces
You are in Shock! Tear my darkness into pieces
None will ever be able to spoil the serenity between us two
These consolidating bonds, shall never again come apart

So as to safeguard our love..
.. you set out on a journey.. losing sight of tomorrow
Your face, so oblivious of a smile.. is not what I desire to see..
.. bring love back!

Marina and The Diamonds - Solitaire

Pretty much everything about the song gets to me. But particularly

Quote:
And all the fakes, they called me cursed
But I'm not cursed, I'm not cursed

Devo - Mongoloid
Mongoloid is the old word for Down's Syndrome
A lot of the lyrics in the song are relevant for autistics that can "pass". And there is Devo's spastic movements

Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
One chromosome too many

Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
And it determined what he could see

And he wore a hat
And he had a job
And he brought home the bacon
So that no one knew

He was a mongoloid

Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
His friends were unaware

Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
Nobody even cared
