Do you mean the one where the boy wanted to just play the game, pointed at pictures, and ate sand? I guess I don't REALLY know, about that boy, because I have yet to reassess ALL my beliefs about autism. Still, they DID muse about House maybe having AS! Frankly, House DOES seem to have all the symptoms! He is much like I was when I was a little kid.

I knew he was severly autistic and he had a fixation on his PSP and I thought it was very sweet of him to give it to House as a 'thank you' gift. I saw he was still able to show he was thankful for what House did no one else was able to figure out. It must be very difficult for him to show people he is thank full for them and he sowed by giving him his PSP. I don't think I would have let my child do that because I spent $249.99 on the product but if he or she bought it then I wouldn't have cared because it's their money and their choice what they do with what they bought.
The child got worms from eating sand. I used to put sand in my mouth when I was a kid because I liked the crunching sound in my mouth. I don't know why he did it, he could have done it for the same reason.

Yeah, I meant to mention that. I DID like that part. As for the sand, some people do do that with some mineral deficiencies. It's called pica...

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/pica

an abnormal appetite or craving for substances that are not fit to eat, as chalk or clay, common in malnutrition, pregnancy, etc.

It is also a childhood eating disorder. Children who do it are frequently autistic or diminished mental capacities...

I've always thought House was the one who showed signs of AS. I always thought that.Even in the first episode I had thought that.

There's that blond headed guy in Boston Legal that has AS.

Now tha tyou mention it...

Damnit I never got to watch this one! I missed it!

I used to be obsessed with it, but I can't bring myself to watch anymore because it reminds me of my dad's hypochondria and how much he talks, then occasionally asks me medical questiosn because I'm "smart." then Gets annoyed when i can't answer him with "But I thought you wanted to be a nurse! You should know that!"

Nerve wracking.

You should learn to make up ridiculous answers,
and then bs him into believing them.

House is certainly antisocial, but I would have thought he's far too good at reading people to be an aspie. IMHO. *shrug*

My husband is great at "reading" people. He doesn't pickup stuff subconciously like NTs do. He has memorized gestures and actions and correlated them with intentions and motivations. It comes off as seamless to other people who are most likely ignoring the whole situation.
I can do it too to an extent. What some people call ESP or mindreading is often picking up subtle actions, comments, and heightened energy levels. I don't have to look at someone's face to pick up on their "vibe". I have had the hair stand up on end from some nutty person that I'm not even facing.
It's just a different type of reading.

I'm very good at reading faces. I can't always figure out why people feel the way they do- I can't even tell when people are drunk- but I am very good at reading body language and facial expressions. I think it's a learned skill.

House is NOT good at reading people! In fact, several times he made MAJOR mistakes and even almost KILLED people! He sees symptoms and deduces. Even with the little girl and the mother. The girl giggled and seemed normal. The mother was quick to react, and described the right symptoms. He tested the girl to some degree, she giggled and said something to the effect that he was wierd. HECK, I could have figured that was a likely possibility. I might have asked the girl a few pointed questions(Like if she liked being near, and possibly sitting on things that vibrate, or liked moving against something she was sitting on, etc....), but that would give her ideas if I was wrong, and spoil the chance for the mothers confusion.

With the girl that came on to him, he apparently fell for it, etc... until he saw her tears and realized she had an infection. As I recall, that was also the episode the little autistic boy was in. BTW She was REALLY obvious!

He will see a rash, scratches, etc... and DEDUCE what happened. In fact, he tries to avoid believing what the people say/do! Check it out sometime. The WHOLE show is based on his logic and encyclopaedic knowledge. Further, the story line builds with him teaching, seeming arrogant, liking puzzles, and a lack of respect for "authority". The premise is he is doing time for some past misbehaviour. Gee, all that sounds familiar!

I just have seen little of House and thought of him more like just having ASPD than actually being an aspie, and after watching that episode it makes more sense, the way he acts, playing videogames in his office, the way he dresses, being a genius, different form of solving a problem. He always talks in metaphores that I actually don't understand, it seems like an NT trait of him.

He seems to me like a high functional aspie with ASPD.

I actually liked that episode, but I wondered why the other doctors don't accept that idea.

YIKES, take a look at ASPD in wikipedia! I don't think he fits those criteria. I could see how one might shoehorn him in, but I doubt he fits. House doesn't seem like someone that doesn't care. He seems like someone that DOES care, but doesn't like the things he has to do in order to do so, and he is VERY confident. THAT IS, after all, what makes people want to watch it.
