I was diagnosed with Asperger's (when it was a thing) as an adult about 10 years ago. I had periods of success in medicine when properly supported, but eventually the production culture and interpersonal dynamics caught up to me and I burned out. I worked in an academic center, did some clinical research and managed a training program so turned to education as a second career. Now in my second year teaching high school science many of the same interpersonal issues with students and colleagues are coming up. I don't understand them, they are not egregious, but they are an issue to others.
I am intelligent, hard working, determined (read as Aspie) and need to find a place in the world of science and ideas for a second career person (read as not going back for a PhD) to function. I have read the threads from 09, 11, and 13 but wanted to know if anyone had ideas.
