You're special but not THAT special....?

That is the respons i get everytime i bring up the autism/aspergers i was diagnosed with my mom.
After 3 years she is still reluctant to accept it.
Anyone in a situation like this?

Yes - with friends. People seem to think, that AS means "something wrong with the person" - and no parent want that for their dear offspring.
Maybe because AS is an autism form and our culture is biased against autism and "disorders" at large.
"Syndrome" sounds even scarier to many, who didn´t read the exact, un-dramatic meaning of that word.
Many kling to the belief, that AS is something, you can outgrow.

Could you perhaps persuade her to read something easy/light/humorous about it? It might open her eyes.

I don´t know your age, but you might find something on youtube, that explains something about you in a humorous way - cartoons and certain videos with aspies explaining. Try googling:
