Today I thought my kitchen was burning... guess why? That's probably right, somehow... window was simply left open. Humans are so selfish others can't even leave open windows in a hot summer just because they want to want develop cancer themselves by burning so much fuel it literally engulfed the entire neighbourhood. And https://www.gov.uk/smoke-control-area-rules casually says it's allowed?

How can anyone cope with such blatant selfishly by both populace and government? Sometimes I wonder if they do this so they could see if the 'bullied' will react...

I never hang clothes to dry outside in warm weather because it's too likely somebody will start a barbecue. I hate the smell, it sticks to the clothes and stinks the house out. Doesn't smell very healthy either. I live in a place where a large number of back gardens are huddled together, so it's pretty obvious to anybody contemplating burning anything outside that it's likely to annoy somebody. I guess they just don't give a damn. And there I was thinking it's just folks on the spectrum who have impaired empathy.

People like to barbecue. I like to barbecue.

It doesn't mean I don't care about people.

People don't always think. It's not just Aspies who forget to think of others. NTs do it as well. We're only human.

But, I do see your side of it as well. It is annoying if you dislike the smell of smoke, especially coming in your own home. :(

But I'm sure they're not doing it all deliberately just to get to you. Like I said, people don't always think.

I hate barbecue grills too. There are stairwells here who don't allow dogs because people there are allergic. As an asthmatic I can safely say that barbecue grills need to be outlawed. The smoke gets in so we have to shut the windows and veranda doors (exactly what you want in summer  ). It was particularly bad when the former 3rd floor neighbors lived here. Their barbecue was the worst. I celebrated when they finally moved. I even had a song, but I can't post it here  There are still some who barbecue here, but theirs must be different, as it's not as bad as that family's grill was. For me it can trigger asthma attacks, but even my non asthmatic NT mother hates it (because of the smell in her case).

There's a rant thread stickied at the top of the The Haven, Mootoo,

If you placed this thread in General Autism issues because of its relevance to sensory sensitivities being triggered by neighbours, that happens in a whole range of different ways and noise is by far the most common here.
