I'm just about to shut down my computer because I'm packing to move across the country. I don't know how long it'll be before I can get back online, but at least a few days.

I'll miss you all... don't burn down the house while I'm gone

I am glad that you finally made successes.
I see the college degree as a fiscal one, but
money can come and go :? . I should know.

It is the emotional ones that are lifelong :?. They
make the lifelong symptoms of Autism lesser, but
not gone away 8O .

I forget? What is your degree in :D ? What are your
post school plans :D ? Hmmmmm? Sniff! Sniff! Hmmphh!
and where's the hankie  . [joke disclaimer since I
cannot really tell a joke well]-- "We'll I guess you
will no longer speak to me  ????? Hmmmmmm?8O "

But seriously, with a stupid joke put aside, I am
happy for you. Good luck! :D :D :D :D

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

I'm baaack! :-)

Finally got an internet connection again so I can come back and post. Sadly I wasn't moving to a new job, instead I'll be living with my parents for a little while until I find one.

Thank you! My degree is a Bachelor of Fine Art in Computer Art.

Much as I hate having to come back to my parents' house (annd go back into hiding since they don't know about the spectrum) - it's been interesting because I spent the past couple days discreetly quizzing my mother about my childhood. I was saying "mama" and "dada" by 8 months, but then I suddenly stopped talking... and didn't start again until I was 2. She says I understood what was said to me, and I could write my name and had all the countries of the world memorized, I just wouldn't talk. Does anyone know if this is a clinically significant language delay?

Now my spirit has returned to me :D :D :D
I was miserable all weekend, but let's first
deal with your question.......!

Hmmmm?....To what extent was this a language
delay? you said you stopped thinking, but what
about silence, before and after age 2. I know
you didn't have temporary hearing loss.

If you go to my past forums you will get gist of my
weekend. And back to the present.......!

What by age 2-6 were you doing academically,
communicatively, expressionwise?

Hmmmm?

Actually I meant I stopped speaking. I was still thinking. It didn't seem to bother my parents and I don't think they ever took me to a doctor, but they did write down what words I said and when... and between that period of 8 months to 2 years I was not talking at all. I didn't shy away from physical touch, actually I seemed to crave it. And I was very alert to my environment, tense, high energy. But I didn't like lots of people. My grandmother tells a story about taking me to visit my four cousins when I was 2 and when they all came over to say hello, I started screaming and wouldn't stop till they left me alone... but later that day, when one of my cousins was quietly making origami, I crept over to her like a ghost and then started making up my own origami designs.

I was also very scared of noise and I would hide from the vaccuum, from balloons (in case they popped), and other loud noises.

I looked up my school reports from ages 4-6 and they were all good. One teacher said I was nervous about speaking and my kindergarten teacher said I set very high standards for myself and then was frustrated when I couldn't reach them. They didn't write down anything about problems interacting with the other kids and my preschool teacher actually recommended me for gifted placement. So I'm not sure what all this means.
