I'm wondering if any of you guys who have fixed routines or behavioural addiction type things get physical symptoms if you can do the behaviour?

I am trying to stop a routine I have which is not good for my life. I have real bad cravings and have the shakes and feel jittery. I always get a sore throat and sore head and im thinking about doing the behaviour all day which means I can't concentrate well.  If I pretend I've done my routines I feel better for like a minute and then not again. Idk why because it's not like a drug or alcohol addiction. I don't plan on doing my addiction even though I want to. Makes all my senses seem to be heightened but in a way it's nice. I thought I'd write this while I have cravings so I can explain better.

:/ so yeah does anyone else feel like this?

I commend you. :) My anxiety will skyrocket if I'm thrown off an expected routine. I also don't have the best impulse control sometimes, but I've gotten better at "staying present". That's what your description reminded me of, because you notice your body's symptoms without reacting to them.

Ah I see. I wish I could say I didn't react, I wrote this earlier in the day and I only feel better because I did my routines. :/

You get physically sick if you dont do this thing you do (a repetetive thing that you do that would like to stop doing)?

Dont get physically sick. But have struggled with an obesession with a compulsive thing (two shrinks differed on whether this thing is 'obsessive compulsive behavior'- but it was obsessive and it was compulsive) I did for years (decades actually). Its mostly under control now. A hypnotist taught me one trick. Years later I invented my own every different trick to deal with this thing. Not sure if this thing is in the same category as the thing you're talking about.

I dont get sick as in wanting to vomit but feel pain in my body, throat and head. Idk if its real pain or psychological though. I think maybe something like that. I see a support worker who is helping me but it's not working so much. I guess I will tell them how I was feeling or show this thread or something.

I did a hypnosis type thing from youtube and I feel like it actually helped. I wasn't so much expecting that but I kept an open mind. Its this video : https://youtu.be/zM5ynnc7f4o
