Has anyone here had a PIP interview? I have mine tomorrow :-/
Any advice or reassurance is greatly appreciated!

It's hard to get PIP for autism alone, but if you have multiple disabilities (particularly physical) then it's doable.

Focus on the support you need on your worst days - that's what you're getting it for.

Good luck.

Thanks, I think I'm going to need it.
I have mental health issues (eating disorder, currently in recovery, ocd, anxiety and depression) on top of my autism but no physical disability or learning disability.
The stress of the process almost makes you not want to bother but you have to :-(
We had someone from the local autism trust help us fill out the forms and ticked the box saying I was unable to attend an interview (due to the extreme anxiety it would cause).

PIP is a UK benefit. Personal Independence Payment (PIP) helps with some of the extra costs caused by long-term ill-health or a disability if you're aged 16 to 64.

I was fortuitous as I didn't have to attend a face-to-face assessment.

I would like to wish you all the best with yours.

Thanks. I'm dreading it. Not just the interview but the fall out for me personally as I have to try and recover from it afterwards :(

I should add that I did have to attend a PIP assessment on the first occasion when I made a claim. Subsequently I was deemed to be ineligible for the benefit.

The assessor to whom I spoke asked me general questions about my life, how my condition affected me and some rather random mathematic questions, too. Whilst I never feel comfortable lying, I may have been too honest when I had my assessment. I always worry that I am committing benefit fraud, and I tend to externalise that thought to civil servants, doctors and psychiatrists.

I had an extremely considerate and patient assessor for PIP, she did try to 'catch me out' a few times but I genuinely felt she was listening intently when I replied as I'd been advised to, you have to be very straight but also on your toes as the conversation can flit from place to place. It really does depend who assesses you from all I've researched and heard, I was lucky to have a considerate human being I guess. I was tearing my hair out and more for weeks, I wrote countless pages and had references they could contact if they wanted more information, they accepted me and I am very thankful because it means a lot for my quality of life compared to what I'd been existing like and it will help me a lot for a brighter future. I was advised off people who know more than me that I most definitely qualify for such things but the application process and range of stories when it comes to dealing with the government make you second guess at every moment.
