I think around 10% - 20% of people with asperger syndrome ever marry. The divorce rate is as high as 80%.

More research needed ! !

Haha, I think these days that is a general statistic for most the population (of my generation anyway).

that could either mean we're smarter, or very undesirable.
maybe a bit of both

edit: it's mostly the latter.

From my husband's support group.

15 guys.

10 were married. Most of those divorces hit after the kids turned 18.

3 marriages on life support, though I just found out two are heading towards divorce court. (wives left)

2 still married. Me and my husband, and another couple who are both Aspies.

Odds look like crap from here.

I've been essentially married (everything but the legal recognition) for almost 14 years. We've been legally married for a little over one year. I'm very happy in my marriage, but I will admit that we are not a normal couple. 1. we're both guys (we're gay).
2. my husband is, like me, very practical and not easily swayed by emotion.
3. there is a 22 year age difference between us (he is 55, I am 33).
4. he is unusually patient and accommodating with my sensory issues and social difficulties.
5. he is a truck driver, and is away from home 4-5 days a week. I get a lot of alone time because of this, which I need.

I never want to get married. I don't find the concept of having a romantic relationship at all attractive.

I'm still looking. In matters of this kind, statistics aren't all that relevant. How many aspies "in general" get a job, or how many aspies "in general" get married doesn't really matter, because you (and I) aren't looking for a job or a spouse "in general," but in particular, and we only need one. :D

I think that early social training creates the expectation of normalcy--and eventual marriage--but doesn't actually go that far. In fact, based on what I've seen on this forum, I'm not so sure that the training provided is actually enough to ensure enough social training to make it in the work force. It seems to be that there may need to be two more goals to be reached after early social training--social training for the work force and social training for romantic relationships.

My wife and I have been happily married for 27 years. We have two sons, one who like me has been diagnosed with Asperger's.

I don't think they have a number on it but if unemployment is actually like 80% then I can't image it's too high

Me & my girlfriend who is also on the spectrum would be married by now if it wouldn't screw up her benefits cuz we're both disabled. We've been living together for over 4 years. I heard that 80% of parents of autistic kids get divorced & sense autism sometimes runs in families it makes sense that lots of married autistics get divorced

No, I have bedroom demands that generally don't go over well. And when they do, they are the type (girls) that don't stay around long.

I was briefly married in my 20's to an abusive bully, and it was a few years after that divorce was final that I was diagnosed with Asperger's. Now, I've been with someone I think is also an Aspie, for over a decade to the point where we seem like a married couple. At some point, we'll get married after I get a permanent, stable job because I know it would screw up my benefits if we got married sooner. Otherwise, we probably would have gotten married years ago if I didn't get SSI.
