I'm curious about the demographics of intrepidity.

I guess it comes down to how much pain something new is likely to cause. Whether you are willing to risk it. That's why I chose door #2.

I can't say I fit that poll.
I like newness. A lot. But it must be very well prepared newness. I must have researched, planned, weighed pros and cons, and have confidence in what I am doing. Then, it's great. If I'm unprepared I'm ... ridiculously autistic.

6 here.

I used to hate doing things and absolutely hate a change in my routine but now after being used to change and doing different things all the time I'm like BRING IT. I'm always the one to try different things on a menu now or go to different music genre festivals. I've found that it's actually fun and rarely something bad happens.

Not really sure what to vote in the poll. I mean I like trying out new things, but it's not really something I actively seek. If the opportunity arrives, though, I'll jump at it.

None of the options apply to me, really.

As I get older, though, the choice which states "rarely" fits me more.

I like to try new things---but I also like to live according to a certain routine.

I picked 3.

When it comes to my day to day routine, I need it to be unaltered as possible.

However I enjoy exploring new places. But it needs to be when and how it's expected. Like school field trips.

We went to two new places to explore we had decided on beforehand Saturday. But if my dad had suddenly decided to just drag me along doing errands instead, that would not go well for me at all.

Yep....errands suck!

I hate it when my wife wants to drag me to the mall LOL

I went with #4 only because I'm happy to try new things but it has to be a safe feeling for me. I feel extremely uncomfortable in new places unless I'm with someone. Even then I have to have a clear explanation of acceptable behavior in that place.

I voted for 3 but it's really a mixture of 2 & 3 . 2.1 Rarely - when encouraged by family

It depends on what the new thing is

I am very routine and structure orientated but I do like variety & seeing if I like/dislike something. Change is very hard for me however.

it's funny. i prefer an invariable lifestyle, but i am always searching out novelty in a few areas of interest. for example, the less some music resembles what i'm already familiar with, the better i like it. (a new group is good, a new genre is great.) --i think the answer to this question does definitely bifurcate along special-interest lines. who knows ENOUGH about their chosen subject?

I do not do things spontaneously, though if I have the time to research and plan then I will some times maybe weather permitting - try something new. Though not likely.

7) It depends on what that "new thing" is.

Try a new food? = almost certainly (if vegetarian-friendly)
Try moving to a new town? = no

But since that wasn't an option, I chose 2 as it's usually how things end up.
