Who else has had this happen at security and hated it?
I'm convinced I didn't have anything metal on me as well... :?
Very traumatic experience. I hate people touching me.

Last time I flew I guess it was 1994 and security was very limited. I hate putting my life in the control of others so I would never get on another plane.

The worst was when I travelled in Europe between 1981 and 1983. The Red Brigade was active then and had kidnapped a General Dozier. Sadat was assassinated while I lived there. Tunisia was fighting with Libya and taking in Arrafat and PLO members. It was very tense over there and I had police dogs going through my bags over and over, patdowns, strip searches and you name it. It was hard then to go from country to country without being touched and humiliated. I didn't like to be touched at all, but I wanted to travel, so I forced my mind elsewhere and dealt with it. I wouldn't say I ever became comfortable with it or used to it. What goes on now seems like much less to me, but I might act less suspicious than I did back then. Really, I have no idea how people perceive me and that's a huge issue when you are going through security checkpoints. The security people are taught to look for suspicious body language and lack of eye contact. We stand out every time and the more we're touched, the worse we act. It's a catch 22.

wow that really sucks...im sorry to hear that you had to deal with soo much tramatic experiences...i hate for anyone besides myself to have control so i try to stay away from airports or aircraft for that manner...
i dont see myself getting a pilot's license anytime soon so i dont think i will be on a plane for awhile....

the last time i was touched at the airport was at the beginning of this year in Germany. although i also didn't have any metal on me. the guy was telling me what i am supposed to do with hands and legs in germen language and i followed his instructions only because he was showing with his legs and hands what to do. it always took me few seconds to react and only then he realized that i don't speak germen (i did, but i forgot it all). these things are unpleasant, but i know it's not going to last long, so it's no big deal. i just turn off my mind. worse is to sit so close to the other people in the aircraft and when the stewardess comes and asks me what i want to drink, i always have problems to say it loud enough for her to hear me :) it's stupid, i know.

In the US, this happens sometimes 100% randomly! They sometimes print a code on the boarding pass that marks you as someone to be picked on. I had this happen perhaps 6 times.

Lucky I don’t wish to travel; no one ever touches me without my consent, and since no one has that, I'd probably be dropped by some moron.... :?

I do not like getting touched by random people anywhere no matter if it is at airports or not.
To touch me at all you need my permission.

A couple days ago I was waiting for an elevator and this random woman who was walking past stopped and said, "You have such pretty hair" and then RAN HER HAND DOWN MY PONYTAIL! What gives? I didn't know her, she didn't know me- what gives her the right to touch my hair?! Honestly, people need to keep their hands to themselves unless they have permission to touch someone else. I was so creeped out, I wanted to go wash my hair.

i guess, she could be a professional :) used to touching hair 8 hours a day, so it just didn't strike her that somebody might have anything against... anyway, post a picture of your ponytail here, so we can have a look ;) i am curious now...

I'll post a picture when I get a chance- it's nothing special though.

This was in the elevator for the psychology/speech pathology department building on campus. I guess she might have been a hair stylist who was coming for therapy, but more likely she is connected to the psych department (I know everyone in the speech department).

Professional!?!??!????? Such a person SHOULD be even LESS likely, or desired.

I don't like that, and I have a relatively small amount of hair. MAN am I angry at even such ATTEMPTS! Lostinspace is certainly NOT alone on this!

I've had my bag searched at Jersey Airport but it never bothers me I don't like people standing behind me or close to me. Unless I was in a relationship of some kind
