My thyroid shut down about three years ago. The first sign that anything was wrong was in my body temperature. Whenever I would take my temperature, it was about 96 degrees. If the room temperature was below about 78, I would start shivering.
One morning when it was 28 degrees out, I had to go to a feedlot about 10 miles away. I put on my heavy coat, started the pickup, and headed out toward it. I had a thermometer in my pocket so I decided to take my temperature. It was 92.5 degrees! Yikes!
As the pickup warmed up from the heater, I warmed up. By the time I got to the feedlot, it was up to about 96 degrees.
