I rarelly ever sit down to do work without having had some sort of caffeine. I find that it helps me focus more and without it I'm just completely scatty with my thoughts rushing all over the place.

What are other ADDers and AS peeps expirence with this 'wonder drug'?

Me too, exactly. It also seems to make me a tad more social.

I don't normally drink coffee but I had some today because I needed to wake up for an early morning interview. It made me more alert and I noticed I had less anxiety. I usually drink coffee if I want to do something like clean or complete homework.

Sometimes coffee sends me right back to bed.

If that happened to me I'd have it every night before I went to sleep.

It helps a little bit and makes me calmer outwardly and more focussed.

I've lately been drinking coffee; I like the taste, but it makes me jittery. I don't like it due to this (I'm already "up" enough), so I don't drink it anymore.

I prefer its polar opposite if I must drink an "adult" drink (booze).

Caffeine is often "prescribed" by doctors as an alternative to drugs like ritalin in cases of ADHD.

Usually coffee helps make me more social - but that's because it gives me the illusion of energy, and when I have more energy, I am more capable of being social. It also makes my brain feel good. It makes my brain feel like a golden nebula is inside it, warming and sparking inside my skull. The skin on my scalp tingles after coffee. I can get this feeling without coffee as well, but it is more predictable with coffee, because I know exactly how long the drug works for.

If I'm really tired, coffee does nothing though. If I'm too anxious, coffee makes me more jittery and on edge. I can only have coffee on a 'normal' day.

I can't tolerate caffeine or any other stimulants, they make me have terrible chest pains and jitters. I was stupid enough about two hours ago to take one of my mom's caffeine energy pills to see if I could tolerate it to help me lose weight; nope. Bad idea. Now I feel like my arms are made of jello and my chest will explode, even though I know it won't and I'm exaggerating.
But yeah, I'm already on Strattera, so caffeine is bad and excessive to my brain.

I never had this problem until a few years ago...now I try to avoid the stuff as much as possible =/ Which sucks, because sometimes I just really, really want a Cherry Coke.

For some strange reason, I feel like I can really get a lot of things accomplished if I'm drinking coffee while doing them. Not sure why. I am definitely a coffee addict. I have some in the morning, and I have some after dinner. I don't know if I have ADD or anything. I'd doubt it.

if i haven't had coffee before work, i'm horribly dead on my feet, crabby, and withdrawn. i'm not a morning person. at 9am i take a coffee out to the car on my first break, listen to the radio and watch the birds, and come back a completely different person. well not completely, but awake and definitely in a better mood.

Seriously? I live on caffeine and I am still an attention deficit WRECK all day at work. I have actually thought perhaps the caffeine ADDED to my problems rather than making things better. I drink a lot of caffeine due to my screwy sleeping habits.

My thoughts come to me in a much more organised was after drinking something with caffeine in it which gives me a break from the usual messy/unorganised thoughts.

I started drinking caffiene a lot when I had to get up for early morning classes. I started because I couldnt concentrate in these classes because I was soo tired. It helped me to stay awake and pay more attention. I started needing more and more because of all the long studying all the time. It just makes me less tired as far as I know.
