I'm 47 and was diagnosed at 44. Well, that's when autism was diagnosed; before that I got a different diagnosis pretty much every time I went for mental health treatment. Strangely, all of those were "diagnoses" that no-one would make any effort to confirm or make official.

Was the last diagnosis legit or did they just get it wrong?

I believe they got it right----for when I was 15.

Believe it or not, "Schizoid Personality Disorder" has nothing to do with schizophrenia. It has more to do with somebody who seeks to isolate his/her self from the world.

"Schizotypal Personality Disorder" is more related to schizophrenia.

I'm 31 and I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when I was 8. In fact, I think I got my diagnosis right around the time when AS became officially recognised as a diagnosable condition.

I am 43 about to turn 44.

I was dx'd with classic Autism at 3 (although my paperwork does not say anything, the signs are there and so obvious).
I was re dx'd with Aspergers at age 30.

I'm part of the minority who was diagnosed in childhood (8 years old). I still don't understand how I didn't slip through the cracks as a child like most mild Asperger's girls do. Even some girls that were born after 1990 seem to have a diagnosis later that 15 years of age.

Never formally diagnosed-I read a book in 1997 that mentioned Asperger syndrome and the traits fit me. I was 32 years old then.

I'm 17. I was diagnosed at 17. I knew for sure since 13 but kept being told that I was too smart/articulate/just had traits and wasn't actually autistic. As of Valentines Day, I'm diagnosed.

I'm 28.

After having a mental breakdown during my first year at university, which I believe was due to the institutional differences between secondary school and university. It was recommended that I attend counselling sessions. It was during my first session with my psychiatrist, that she thought I might have Asperger syndrome. This was when I was 21. I then I had to wait several months to attend an assessment. It was during this assessment that I was officially diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, aged 22.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's since I was 3. Although this is when my parents noticed it. They said I would say "octagon" whenever I say a stop sign or "garage door up, garage door down" when the garage door would move. I'm 22 now.
