MG, just to be persnickety, NT actually means people with a typically developed neurological system. The word for not Autistic is actually Allistic.

Ooh. These terms are all new to me. Ok. Allistic.. Lets see if I can remember that one! Haha!
No worries! They were new to me too a few years ago! :D

I didn't know what an NT was and had to ask... In my mind then (To remember it) I class an NT as a "Normal person" (In other words a mr or mrs average). I remember the N. I know I am not normal and I never want to be normal... Please no one be offended by how I remember things in my brain!

"NT" is sometimes used for people "not on the Spectrum"-----but it's really not true.

People with schizophrenia are, most definitely, not "neurologically typical."

I wouldn't consider myself "very intelligent"----certainly not in the "Mensa" sense--though I believe I have an adequate brain.

You have an amazing way to communicate and to explain things. You are pretty intelligent!

Not today. I did a small amount of tinkering with a bicycle. I had to ask my brother to help as I was weak with partly shutting down so I couldn't put much force on a spanner.

I'm autistic and of average intelligence, nothing more.

I have increasing memory issues, and a tendency to forget that I forget everything. Please don't take it personally if I forget something, it probably says absolutely nothing about how important the thing is/isn’t to me.

Sorry to disappoint you Joe, but I think you are quite an intelligent person.

What is intelligent anyway? Does it just mean excellent memory and logic for math, scientific and technical facts and details, or can having a lot of empathy (like I do) count as intelligent too?

I couldn't agree more.

Empathy absolutely counts. Stupid people cannot be empathetic. Empathy takes a very specific kind of emotional maturity which requires a level of intelligence. It also requires a Theory of Mind which I believe is a form or intelligence as well. There are so many different types of intelligence and I have never met an Autistic person who did not have one kind or another in very high doses.

KK is super straight forward, and comes across as genuine.

In terms of IQ the answer is no. We are in a varying range.

There is more than one form of "smarts" though.

One could argue that most autistics are very intelligent about their interests. As we do tend to suck up facts and information about our interests like sponges.

I'm guessing I'm probably about average intelligence, if not a little below. As far as emotional intelligence and maturity, not even remotely. :P

The strange thing is... With my main hobby that I've had since quite an early age, that yes. I probably know more facts and little details then most of you here, though most of you here may not share the same hobby; but for me, within the hobby..., Though I specialize in one general aspect which I love the most, I will say that I have a very broad knowledge within the hobby and am able to do most things. I am less of a facts and figures, but lean more on design and picture thinking... It is a little different to facts and figures. Yes, I used to go deep into facts and figures. I used to memorize most of the prices for almost every item in each model railway shop who advertized in the magazines. But it is like I have been through that stage and moved onto using my mind to picture think... Designing model railway things. I spend ages and ages and ages in thought along these lines, and I really enjoy the thinking...
I guess it is called day dreaming.

I'm of average intelligence. I'm blown away sometimes by the levels of intelligence shown on WP. So many smart and articulate people here. That's probably why I don't post much. I haven't got anything of worth to add.
