Several years ago I asked my father about my early childhood . At the age of 86, and it being over 5 decades ago, his memory of it was fuzzy.

One thing he did recall was-

Quote:
Mima and I tended to be rather short of sl,eep. Because you would not go to bed early, had to have one of us stay with you until you went to sleep and tended to w,ake up with nightmares.

I still go to bed late. Nowadays I have poor dream recall. Two reoccurring themes of my dreams are Getting lost and Trying to speak but I can't . I tend to experience initial insomnia , ie difficulty getting off to sleep.

Before the onset of my arrhythmia and low blood pressure issues, I used to have a very hard time falling asleep at night. Now I can usually fall asleep easily but wake up often around 2 and 3:30 am and can’t really fall asleep easily then. It sucks because I get super tired the next day. Getting out of bed is terrible.

I’ve alway had very vivid dreams and I often remember them for a bit. My recurrent dreams have to do with a wave that engolfes me, or I’m running away from bad people and have to hide and usually get to a door that I can’t lock. If I’m on an overnight plane ride, I often will dream about the plane having to do an emergency landing somewhere. When I was a kid I had the awful dream where I could not scream or talk.

But I often have some neutral and fun dreams too. I love when I realize I’m dreaming and start controlling where the dream goes. Once I had a dream where I was trying to convince my husband (in the dream) that he was in my dream, and he did not believe it. Then my dream self tried to give him facts to prove my case, and I said while we were riding in a car: “Don’t you see this is a dream? Look at this road, it is all drawn out like a cartoon!”

I've had difficulties with falling asleep since infancy - not sure to what extent they were caused by environmental issues or autism.

I have fairly good dream recollection and recurring dreams - most often trying to speak or scream with no result or suddenly falling through the floor. I've never dreamt I'm flying which is supposed to be very common.

I've always had a lot of trouble both with falling asleep and staying asleep. As a child I had very vivid dreams, much less so as an adult. One unusual thing is that I cannot recall a single dream in which I spoke or even tried to speak.

Lots of sleep problems. It doesn't help that I apparently have something like a natural 36-hour sleep cycle, not a 24-hour one. Can never get started properly in the morning. Have been diagnosed with related medical issues.

I fall asleep right away. But then I wake up after an hour or two. I post for a while and go back to sleep and then wake up again after an hour or two.
