Why do lawyers say that you should never confess about your crimes to the police?

I learned how to confess to my crimes without going to jail, even though I have Autism



I also understand that most with ASD are more likely to be victims of crimes then commit them, but I was asking just in case, because there are some like me with ASD are are also much more likely to commit crimes than a profoundly developmentally delayed population.

In the US, anything you say can and will be used against you. It's hard to convince a jury you're not guilty if you've confessed to committing the crime.

Because the police are trying to put as many people in jail as they can, because that way they make more money in their pay check and it looks like they are doing work.

The lawyer's job is to defend you in a court of law. Their job is solely to work in your interest. They have more options if you don't confess to the police.
