I don't like Lifts/Elevators but if I'm in the shopping centre with my 4 wheeled shopping jeep I have to use one it's only up to the next floor, it's a glass one so for some reason I feel safer in that then one that is closed in.
The glass ones you can see where you are.

My office is on the 5th floor and I would be happy to walk upstairs to it but they don't allow it, we have to use the lifts.
Apparently the stairs are considered a safety hazard (?!)
