Is it normal that my symptoms of ASD is getting milder as I get older?

I feel like my symptoms of ASD is getting milder and milder, as I get older.

I still have milder symptoms of Stereotypic Movement Disorder, Developmental Coordination Disorder and Unspecified Communication Disorder.

I have milder issues with social-emotional reciprocity.

I am now improving on my social-emotional reciprocity.

I did develop much better social skills for two years.

It is normal that with age your coping strategies improve so the symptoms are less visible and you can overcome your difficulties better.

As above…you're 'learning to be normal'

I am not sure what you mean by that.

I will never be normal as my brain is developmentally different.

I am developing more social skills as I am getting older.

Perhaps 'learning to be seem normal' would be closer?

This.
With age, your symptoms get less visible and you learn ways to function in society despite them.

Yes. I get more NT acting over the years.

Sometimes I feel like a chess master who is forced to play high stakes poker. Chess is how autistics think, and poker is how NTs operate. So I get to higher levels but only find each level challenging.

Things like social skills, expressing and recognizing emotions all can be learned. I do not mean just faking or acting.

As you recognize the the things that can trigger stress and overstimulation, you can avoid or try to mitigate these triggers.

Rigidity related to keeping things the same and avoid change. Practicing these things can help it feel less difficult to tolerate.

Just like anyone that grows older they are wiser from experience and knowing their self better.

My ASD seems to be disappearing as I'm getting older. I no longer have obsessions and my mood is more stable. Mind you I am on antidepressants. But I think it's age as well. But my ADHD symptoms seem to be getting more obvious as I get older.

My ASD traits are relative to my environment - gentle environment, gentle traits; stressful environment, pronounced traits. I've gained skills, but also I face higher demands these days. My ASD mom's traits lessened when her life demands lessened, but now in her late 70s as demands are increasing (health, financial) her characteristics are back with a vengeance. She's not flapping (like an ASD child might), or having meltdowns or panic attacks (like I do), but she puts in ear buds and does "her own thing".

autism does not go away with age

I was autistic before age 3 and I'm still autistic at 46.

the only thing that changes are comorbids

autism is in the way you are wired up

I don't mind it and am sick of nts trying to cure me of something I like having

unlike other autistic people here I have little interest in socialising just for the sake of it

I don't mind if I have friends or not, I only desire a life companion to be with, otherwise my social needs are low

I can entertain myself and have always liked playing by myself

I am tired of them trying to force me to socialise

I am a social idiot with an iq of 143

I don't care...id rather study than socialise any day

I have no issue with humans in general..it mental health services and the NHS I hate

they are idiot and will never understand autism if it slapped them in the face with a wet fish

I don't want to be like them...after all they think if you bleed from the rectum its caused by anxiety

excuse me whilst I bust a gut

That makes sense, it's just my symptoms of ASD is so mild, that it looks like Broad Autism Phenotype, because I improved by a lot in therapy.

why do I like being autistic...?

it can be funny
I see the world more honestly than an nt
i can't be brainwashed
I can entertain myself
if I do have a friend its genuine as I don't need a friend for the sake of it
I'm not obsessed with egoi know that a bleeding rectum is physical and not a mental illness
I'm sweet
I'm not a bully
I don't fancy myself because I'm neurotypical
