How many of you have an interest or knowledge of hypnosis or NLP???

Can you tell me about it?

I have read about NLP in passing but I am not for sure what it is.However I did see a hypnotist performance one time and it really freaked me out because the guy who got hypnotized was acting like a actual chicken and making clucking noises or whatever when it was happening.However I think the guy may have been in on it so idk.It was so strange.

I cannot be hypnotized.

I'm the same as fnord. It doesn't work for me. I have wondered before about how many of us can or cannot be hypnotized. I feel it could perhaps tell us something about the groups autists might be better divided into.
Seems to me to be something about the internal definition of self.

My mom did therapeutic hypnosis and highly recommends it. I am too afraid to do it. I am not concerned about losing control so much as I am concerned about feeling too much (which would we dysregulation, so control related, so phooey). However, I do EMDR which is hypnosis "lite". Why does it come to mind for you, Technic1?

Sigmund Freud was into hypnosis----until he developed psychotherapy.

Richard Bandler is a psychiatrist and he invented NLP.

I was very interested in it as a Child and bought a book about it. (also astral travel) ı don't remember much of it however but prob still have the book somewhere.

Also My Mother who is a Child psychologist witnessed it used as a treatment for stuttering.
