to be honest, it is not really his birthday we effectively celebrate. it is a more general holiday observance or "feel." astronomers have calculated that Christmas should be in June, by charting the appearance of the 'Christmas star' which the Bible says led the three Wise Men to Jesus. They found that a bright star which appeared over Bethlehem 2,000 years ago pinpointed the date of Christ's birth as June 17 rather than December 25. the early church fathers set december 25 as a general holiday by appropriating a previous pagan winter solstice holiday.

I love classic holiday music. It's the only time year you hear certain older styles of pop music played in public instead of the standard current hits. Also, it's so merry. Full disclosure: I'm an atheist, but I even like the religious Christmas songs.

music is an equal* opportunity pleaser of people.
*'cept for the tone-deaf. i can't think of too many things in life i'd be willing to accept in trade of my music appreciation.

It doesn't necessarily bang too hard, but it does give me good feels.
f**k it, I love Christmas. I can't help but smile when I hear Christmas music and see people out and about, getting ready for the holidays. I've always loved it. I feel like I have a separate emotion that's just called "Christmas".
The only problem is, I always end up feeling Christmassy in August. I have so many Christmas fanfics I wrote in August, but hardly any in December.

I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas -- I love it for it's true meaning, but I hate it for what it has become.

Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?

Yes. That is one upside. The guy who drives my carpool had an xmas XM channel on. It would play a corny old Bing Crosby song, then a modern rock xmas song, then an old timey song remixed to modern techno, then back to an original old timey version of an old timey song. It was kinda interesting to savor. Though even in that case- when we started the return trip home someone said "no more Xmas music please" and no one disagreed as the driver switched channels. So enough Xmas music is still enough. Lol!

I know but I dont believe in Christmas because the 1st Century Christians did not celebrate it.

I love the choral religious music by groups such as Chanticleer, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Kings College Choir, Cambridge Singers, etc.

I am particularly fond of: O Holy Night, Once in Royal David's City.
