Hey team (I typically start most types of forums or posts with either "hey team" or "hey friends" and the former seemed more appropriate at first thought, so I went with it). I suspect I am an autistic individual. I'm relatively new on that journey and don't have much to share yet, but I may in the future. I'm also relatively new to wrong planet! I've been enjoying reading some of the forums on here and I thought I'd ask a question to get some of your thoughts:

How would you define autism in a frame other than that of being a disability?

Hi to you too! Welcome to WP. Autism is caused by uneven neurological development, it is a matter of neurology. Today the only means used to diagnose autism is through behavior, but neurological tests clearly show peaks and valleys of performance. Neurotypical individuals test results tend to be more "rolling hills" with not the dramatic variation in performance that is seen in test results for autistic individuals.
If you don't want to say autism is a disorder, you can say it is a matter of non typical neurology.

Opinions vary. Those with severe symptoms have a "disability". Some with mild symptoms prefer to think of it as a "difference".
