I thought about that. Maybe it is the fabrics, but when I take sleeping pills, or any other sleeping aids, the itching doesn't bother me.

People who itch might want to try Deep Heat cream (if in the UK) if the itches are not too global. Nearest thing in the USA is Walmart's Equate Cool & Heat cream. They used to sell Thera-Gesic cream but that's out of production. They're all mixtures of menthol and salicylate. Supposed to be for pain but it seems better than anti-itch cream for itching. Helps to scrub the affected area first with a reasonably stiff brush (not too stiff) and water. It might burn for a minute or so.

Don't overdo it though, and beware of interactions with anticoagulants if you happen to take those. You'll also stink of menthol but your friends will understand if they have any compassion. And see your doctor if you can afford to, in case it's got an underlying cause that can be treated.

I've not noticed any correlation with stress or agitation, in my case. Seems pretty random. Horrible though. I'd rather be in pain than itch, if it can't be controlled.
